This 4th of July between eating hot dogs untill you get sick and watching fireworks take a moment to stop and think. Remember what this holiday is really about. Freedom. In this country you can be free. You can decide who you want to run this nation and how. Not everyone is that lucky. Stop and pray for those who don't have that luxury. Also remember those men and women who loved freedom more than life itself. Those brave soldiers who gave their life so we could continue to celebrate. So this 4th take a moment to be thankfull to live in this great nation.
It must be lovely to wake up in the morning and understand everything.

I get the chills when I hear the national anthem, and when I see the flag...I can't even imagine a soldier's funeral.

Go to a funeral with a flag draped coffin of a soldier that died for his country, look at the flag and listen to the National Anthem play at it, then listen to the Firing Squad salute, if you dont have a strange feeling just about everywhere there is something horribly wrong.

Yea and the only one with fireworks ~ That makes it far superior than the rest of those patriotic holidays!

Yeah, the US has many patriotic holidays...the 4th of July, Labor Day, Memorial Day, Veteran's Day, Lincoln's b-day, Washington's b-day, some new holiday called like Patriot's Day (I don't know if that is what it is called or not...It's more of a Hallmark holiday version of September 11) Independence Day is the big one though...

I didn't realise that it was the day of Independance. I know that the 4th is,I just didn't realise. However, I don't think a British version would work. There is no way that we are concocting asemi-state religion. Or if we do, no one will follow it.

Anyone else still get goosebumps when they hear the Star Spangled Banner and chills when they see the American flag flying in the breeze? I really couldn't imagine living anywhere but here. Yum, hot dogs...just another great thing about this nation...haha
