So I just got back from the Auxillery meeting. It was a bunch of older men...one younger guy...three older women. Being a young woman definately makes me qualify as a minority member...high priority for recruiting. Everyone was so nice and even though the meeting was long and bland, everyone assured me that you don't really join the Aux for the meetings...I am now officially a "prospective member", I got fingerprinted and I will be taking my entrance test and filling out my application next month. It should be fun...I am looking forward to it.

Worth: You can't create new threads on the "supporting troops" board...so don't worry about it... Smile

Very true...just yesterday my parents heard maydays from people who ran out of gas and who hit a log and destroyed their prop. I am going to go to that meeting...I've officially decided.

I'm closest to Lake Erie, and I will probably be doing office work stuff or helping teach classes...but it would probably be one of the most fun types of community service opps I could find (to fulfill the remaining 80 some hours of community service I need in the next 2-3 years). Now...who to go with me?

Hmm...I really can't imagine them wanting me in a disaster situation, but at least I don't get seasick! The meeting is held at our local senior center...

I think I should go...it would give me something to do at the very least...

it's the reserves for the coast guard I think, so if they need you (say natural disater or major Search and Rescue op) they call you up, it's rather like Civil Air Patrol which is the Airforce Auxilary and there should be a good mix of ages meg (again that's only what I think, I don't know)

Prayer is all I really do now, I write letters on occasion and of course I'm shooting for a comission in the Marine Corps

I'm considering joining the Coast Gurad Auxilary, which really isn't military at all, but supposedly it helps the Coast Guard secure our waterways...

There is a "Flotilla" meeting tomorrow, and that was the extent of the information I requested...I haven't decided if I'm going to go or not, maybe if I find someone to go with, I really don't want to go alone to a meeting full of old guys...

Anyone have information on this organization?
