North Korea appears close to test-firing long-range missiles capable of reaching the United States and its allies, notably Japan. North Korea maintains that the U.S. is hell-bent on provocations for war, citing the major set of American military exercises conducted off the Pacific island of Guam beginning on Monday, June 19th. The five-day maneuvers, called "Valiant Shield," involved 30 ships (including three aircraft carriers), 22,000 troops and 280 aircraft.

1. What are your views on the nuclear proliferation? Should North Korea (or any other country) be allowed to possess WMDs?

2. How should the U.S. react to North Korea’s decision to test the Taepodong-2 nuclear missile?

3. Are the U.S.’s actions belligerent?

Was I missed in the slightest, or was that merely a dejected cry of melancholy?

Soldier: Sir, Hans Blix is here from the United Nations.

Kim: Hans Brix? Aww no! Oh, herro. Great to see you again, Hans.

Hans Blix: Mr. Il, I was supposed to be allowed to inspect your palace today, and your guards won't let me in to certain areas.

Kim: Hans Hans Hans, we've been trew this a dozen time! I don't have any weapons of mass destruction, okay Hans?

Blix: I'm sorry, but the UN must be firm with you! Let me see your whole palace, or else!

Kim: Or erse, what?

Blix: Or else we will be very, very angry with you, and we will write you a letter telling you how angry we are.

I'm against the drain on US Tax Dollers that the UN is, we drop all that cash (something like 2/3s of the Un budget) and they still can't do anything. From an economic standpoint that's what you call a shitty investment

Succinctly put.

I'm against a counterproductive waste of an organization that does little except helps criminals and dictators, which is what the UN *REALLY* is.

Fun Fact: the missle that was supposed to be able to hit cali? it blew up about 2 minutes after launch
Fun Fact 2: NK is not very big Thermo Nuclear Weps have a very big blast radius, it would take less than a submarines worth of ICBMs to decimate NK (maybe 3 thanks to MRVs)

So what that means is that even if the Taep Dong worked if they nuked say LA 1. LA isn't much of a loss when you think about it and 2. we could wipe their nation out with batting an eyelid so this results in 3. sanity regining in Kim Il Jong and them(NKs) not even thinking about hocking a loogie at us, much less a nuke

oh calm down, I'm not inciting fear, I'm just being realistic.
Anyway, if you are talking about the shoes, its pretty much a known fact. Check out any news source. He also fluffs his hair to make himself seem taller. Now that's someone with power issues.

Stop trying to incite fear, it's like the damn press saying that the missile was pointed at hawaii, I want to know where they got that information which was also false.

well, considering they have the capability of hitting America that should garner at least some worry. Maybe not in the very near future, but down the road, who knows? I mean, can you really trust a leader who wears platform shoes?

not that we really need to worry about them hitting america with a nuclear weapon at this point. But South Korea and Japan have gotta be a little scared.

Problem with that is it assumes that the government is a rational actor. It's possible, maybe not likely, but possible, that Jong Il would take a stab at it.

There's also the possibility that they'd wager taht we wouldn't go along with a strike of total annihilation. MAD doesn't fully apply here.

Everyone should listen to what Einstein was trying to say when he called for nuclear disarmament. But, unfortunately, we all know thats not gonna happen. Frown
