Ok, I know that the missile launch on our independence day was just a coincidence. But I still think that was kind of ballsy. N. Korea's need to flaunt their nuclear power makes people think they are up to something... like "look what we got, now we can do whatever we want, so you better not mess with us!"

I say we take 600 square kilometers of mylar or so, paint a huge picture of Kim Jong Il's face on it with a speech bubble saying "I'm a big fat idiot and I poop my pants frequently!" in Korean. Then fold the thing up, pack it in a rocket, and place it in an orbit so that it frequents the skies over North Korea every night , or as often as possible. A big shining cartoon in the sky. It'll do wonders for destroying the Dear Leader's credibility in NK, ha.

are you saying that thats not a good answer?

Personally, I think that we should translate the movie Team America in Korean and then ship it out. After all, I heard Kim Jong Il is a big fan of movies. Smile

no but seriously, what are we going to do about it? I bet no one can come up with a good answer in 48 hours.

I garuntee that wouldn't cost any more than a B-2 bomber, and I also garuntee it'll do wonders for the effort over there.

I say it'll work!

Well the launches were done on the fourth for a few reasons:

1. they fueled the thing 2 weeks ago, they needed to launch or scrap the whole thing entirely.

2. Coinsides with our independance day

But anyway, the shuttle has absolutly nothing to do with it, because you cant target a shuttle (or anything in space for that matter) with any technology that the Koreans have.

Also, North Korea's armed forces are more than twice that of south korea, while we would drop bombs they would mow over hundreds of thousands of south koreans in a week from a ground offensive.

Face it, what is the US really going to do about it. We dont want to instigate nuclear war, we dont want to further damage relations with countries that could cripple our economy as well as severely damage our military might if a war were to occur.

So north korea is going to do what it wants to do, and no one is going to stop them. So lets hear it, what do you propose we do about it?

I want you to stop and re-read your post, think about what you said, then read an article or two on the subject, then calmly analyze it all. It's not that difficult, your going crazy over nothing, especially with the space shuttle thing.

Don't worry, I'm not going crazy. I just heard the first part from someone else. Then I saw an article in the newspaper on the second part. I was just hoping someone on here possibly had heard or read the same thing. Maybe when I have a little more time, I can go research the damn thing but right now I'm just going by what I've heard. That's why I was asking. So thanks for nothing. Smile

No, I'm sure he's against the mockery of human unity and rights that the UN has become.

Looking at the world, there's not much to be said for human unity. The two things holding it together right now are globalization (ie. money making) and the threat of nuclear war.

Well seeing how we dont need the worlds approval to go to war, that was a moot point. We went to the UN for help, they denied it so we formed our own pathetic coalition.

So you're against human unity? Agaisnt all that the UN stands for, chiefly freedom of speech, freedom of the individual, human rights in short? That sounds good, I see why the rest of the world is naturally set against the USA. Of course, it doesn't help that you go to war without its permission, even after requesting it, so in fact, for all the good the US and the attitudes of its citizens do to the world, you might as well withdraw.

There are no guarantees, but they increase the odds you'll survive a less-capable enemy.

Yeah, between you and the best international relations (global education) teacher ever, I have a very realistic approach to the use of nuclear weapons. In IR, we did an entire unit on nuclear weaponry, which culminated in watching the movie "Threads". The movie showed the effect of a nuclear explosion. It was so graphic that my teacher wouldn't let me take it home ot watch the part I missed when I was sick because she didn't want me watching it alone. I didn't really learn a whole lot in that class, but I did learn about the hazards of nuclear proliferation...

Sorry, I would have given you credit, I just have heard those terms thrown around so many times that for me they just go hand-in-hand with nuclear proliferation...I do remember you taking a similar stance on the issue, although I can assure you I did not look up any of your old posts. Wink

Good lord, let the spam begin again.

Kenny please, I'm telling you this in the nicest way possible..just stop already, I'm sure your soliciting for your friend Ben I think was his name, and I'm pretty sure he wrote your questions again, and I really dont feel like arguing about how the format of the questions intentionally point towards one direction, especially the US being belligerent question.

But just to trim this thing down to the flesh and bone, and to get rid of the fluff... Valiant shield and exercises like it in the pacific are nothing new. There is at least a dozen different ones that happen anually. So throw that whole point out the window because it doesn't matter.

By the way please cite where you picked up the info on EX VALIANT SHIELD because your numbers are WAY off!

And Meagan I'm proud of you, I honestly am, and I'm touched, you have got to be one of the first people to use one of my arguments for me as you cited that thing about the "club" and "Mutual Assured Destruction" straight out of one of my old posts... god bless sweet heart. (gimme a little credit next time though please) :P

Pop quiz, what does having Nuclear Weapons guarantee you?

Nuclear weapons are stupid and the only reason why anyone wants them is so that they can join the "club". No one who is thinking clearly would actually use them as it is "mutual assured destruction"...
