I used to be the army. It didn't suit me. People tend to treat you like crap, and they aren't (putting it generously) that bright. Still they're good hard-working people. It is a good fit if you score low in the ASVAB, do not like to think too much, and you're detail-oriented. But, if you're smart, then go to the NAVY, Air force or to my branch; the Coasties. They're smaller groups with higher standards, and more professionalism. I would say the Coast guard is the best branch. Recruiters are picky (They turn down 99% of applicants) and they choose the best recruits. Wolfie, everybody stands for peace. Even those in the military, trust me, I know. Few like to kill or to be in danger of being killed. If you had to harm some bad guy to save you family, would you do it? Got news for you. Many people that do not know you are risking their lives, right now, for your sake and for the sake of others. It saddens me that you sound so ungrateful to the men and women that risk their lives and die protecting you.

so why don't you just say what you mean in your first post instead of wasting computer screen?
duh.
lol
this is fun. ^.^
I didn't realize at that time that I had to spell everything out for you... I hadn't determined yet that you were the type that needed a picture to understand.

Wolfie, I know you don't have anything to contribute to the conversation, however people in your situation tend to not speak at all. You must have missed that memo somewhere.
My point was that it doesn't matter what service you go into, through congressional bumblefuck ideas people that went into the Marines are doing jobs traditionally done by the Army. Airmen are going over to fill needs in the Army, and the Navy has a significant number of troops on the ground in Iraq.
So in short, go into whatever service you want to you're still serving Uncle Sam and that's all that matters.

that's a stupid answer, abbadon needs to think more before he posts. Stop acting like you're educated because you didn't even name a branch. (that's my imitation of you. i've got it down pat ^.^)

It all depends on what you want to do... but realistically with the way our conflicts are going we might as well turn this into a hogwarts sorting hat kinda thing.

I'm gonna have to agree with wolfie on this one. Not just b/c of the science & tech stuff, but b/c my grandpa was in the navy- so it's kinda automatically the best branch. *shrug* sorry guys.

the navy is the best branch because they actually teach you something other than killing. you get trained in science fields. the coast guard is good too because they save lives instead of ending them.

I still contend that the Coast Guard is the best...

Even then, and this is just my opinion, if you want to keep an area, you need to give a face to it. F-16s, Aircraft Carriers, and tanks don't have faces. People do.

very true, you can bomb the shit out of anything, or bombard it in to the stoneage. But if you want to take something and hold it, You need boots on the ground

Thinking about it... I call Navy. Because, face it, what other branch of the military was smart enough to stick guns on a cruise ship, and call it a military operation? "Oh. Yeah. We'll go defend.... The Carribean!". Kidding. Anyway, I think that any ground infantry deserves more credit then they get. Sure, you have submarines that might be out on the front lines, or A-10s that come in and save the day, but it just seems like the guys on th ground are the ones who make things move. Except for World War I. That whole Trench Warfare thing. Not much movement.

lol nice on doc. you wouldnt belive how many emo kids are military brats. emo kids make me laugh with their crazy tight pants and flippy jet black hair, such mis-guided youth. i honestly believe you dont have the right to talk any sort of crap about the military unless youve actually served a term in the military, because like amp said you just have no idea what the hell your talking about.
