160th is one of the more deployed and combat experienced units in the US Army. Although they may not be ruckers, they are still very much in the fight. There is more to combat than shooting... And as far as a basic marine being the same as a Ranger... I have my doubts. Ranger training includes more than infantryman skills, and weapons expertises. Rangers are also trained in infiltration, language, interrogation, all weather conditioning and more. Rangers also have to pick up Multiple MOSs and are typically master drivers.

sure they get paid to shoot, but do they hit anything? a pizza box (minimal marksmanship medal) for the Corps is equivlent of sharpshooter in the Army and the Marines start out better trained than rangers. As far as basiclly trained infantry and advanced light infantry(ex:rangers) the Corps is the top of the world. and Force Recon can play right w/ the SEALs, Delts and Berets and not drop a step. PS why is the 160th in with the shooters? crazy-ass rotorheads they may be but their still the transport for the men with the guns not the operators themselves

quote: true...but army pays you better to get shot
and the Marines pay you to be the shooter instead of the poor cannon-fodder getting shot PS I really do have much love for all our armed services but the chairforce and army are just such easy targets (won't even get in to navy jokes)

I am in the Army. But I often joke that I joined the Army because the Air Force was closed. I guess it all depends on what you are looking to achieve. But if I were to reenlist later... I would try to Air Force ;-P

Hm. My dad was in the navy, so... I'll vote for that one. Though I have the odd urge to back up Amp just because his post was so cool.

USCG! (I like it best because of the work I get to do through the Coast Guard Auxiliary, just a little bit of bias.) Really though, I don't think any one branch is better than all of the rest. All five of them have their own distinct purposes and the way they work together seems to be working.
