If you're trying to ask if we think the boards are people just arguing or if there's actual substance in them (as someone earlier also said) then my opinion:

A lot of the more controversial topics (ie: abortion, drug use, sexuality, religion, etc) have just become arguments. (But hey board members- that's what the debate section on YN is for! )

But, there are lots of actual discussions in here, too!

If you want to see the change in the discussions, change it

no one debates in real life anymore except debate teams and political nominees.

I think that one of the main reasons I debate online is to get the opinions of all kinds of people and to better see from their point of view. That way, when I do something in the real world, I can make more of a difference through better understanding.

debating on the internet is all right, but doing things in the real world is cooler!

Umm...I think what Dumbo is trying to say is that no one wants to read the debates anymore because they are all just people arguing over issues such as homelessness and nothing gets accomplished anyways...I don't know that's my guess if not then I am just as confused as the rest of you! Lol
