Do you have any friends you could stay with? A single mothers' home, perhaps? Maybe if you found somewhere to live, then it would be easier to get a job.

I don't think it's that America doesn't care as much as America isn't sure what to do, or how to help. And you are not forgotten - but maybe you should reach out and ask for help.
