I completely agree with you which is why I am helping with child abuse cases. I went through 4 cases of child abuse personally and I know how it feels and now I'm doing what I can to help others like me. Heroes don't always need to be able to able to lift 3,000 pounds and dodge a speeding bullet, all they need is to care about the safety of others. I'm here to help those who can't help themselves.

OMG I cant even believe it, but a few minutes after I posted this Jesse called me up and told me that she has a court date set for the 30th!!! She's going to finally be able to get away from her mom. I told her that things are going to start going right, and she cried right over the phone. She was happy though, and that just makes me feel awesome. I can't believe it- after all shes been through, she deserves this.

Yeah, I can relate to what this thread is saying. My girl Jesse (not her real name) has had a pretty messed up life, and no one (save me, a few choice friends and one outstanding mom) wants to hear it. They all just think its a sob story that she uses to get attention. But it's not. Her mom walked out on her when she was younger, leaving her with her older sister (who was only about 15 at the time) They took care of each other for a while, then their dad kind of took over, who the hell knows why he waited three months to do it. Her mom was institutionalized for trying to hurt her later in her life, and when she got out she found herself a husband who beat, choked and threatened Sharon. Her little sister accused her father of statuatory (not sure how to spell) rape and so he was sent to jail and Sharon had to go live with her mom. She still goes on weekends, but one of my other girl's mom became her foster parent. Right now, when she goes to her mom's her mom throws parties and lets people sleep in Jesse's room on her bed, and the house is so full with smoke that jess can barely breathe, not to mention there's no windows in her room, and she has asthma that is getting worse. She tells me how scared she is every day that she'll end up getting lung cancer, and that she can't do anything about it. She's says shes depressed and her grades are slipping and she's giving up, but I keep telling her that I won't let her. Her mom's still got that abusive husband, and we're all trying to get her out of there. Right now, about all we can do is give her a shoulder to cry on, or someone to lean on when she's not strong, but I really hope that she's going to be okay.

People are lazy. They don't want to get involved. Its just easier to pretend its not happening, however wrong that sounds. People only care about themselves. Thats nothing new.
