I definitely think that we should have a chat room because I believe it's a good way to chat with people who have the same interests as anyone else.

I copied this from another thread on making a chat room, so I can save time instead of typing it all out: “I think a chat on here could provide interesting real-time debate and discussion, but it also has the potential to degenerate into an infernal beast not unlike most aol chat rooms... "soo, asl?" "ima l337 haX0r, i'll hack ur hard drv!" and so on.” Proteus pretty much took the words off my fingertips.. or something.

I really don't see the point of putting chat on youthnoise. Boards are basically the same thing it's just not everyone talking about the same thing at the exact same moment.

I think i have a solution to the chat problem of some people having serious converse and some nerd saying how hes going to hack youre hard drive,simply have an msn style system which allows you to invite others to your con,if they say dumb things then you can kick them,simple as.You could have rooms for specific topics and so on.If anyone plays tribes 2 then they might know what iam talking about.Anyone have a better idea?thanks for reading.

I'm not sure if a moderator could be only youthnoise staff... they can't spend the entire day at their keyboard just making sure that the topic doesn't shift from global warming to Pokemon. Here's an alternative solution: youthnoise staff could appoint posters that they think would be mature enough to handle responsibility as a moderator to moderate the chat room in their (the youthnoise staffer's) absence. If they choose 10 or 15 people to moderate, it's fairly safe to assume that most of the time at least one moderator would be on. I'm not really sure how they would implement that, though... maybe have a moderator position with the ability to boot people from the chat, and create accounts or something with the chat system that the moderators would have access to. Does that sound possible to anyone? I'm not really familiar with the inner workings of chat rooms.

i just want to say i would love a chat room with alot of sophisticated ppl that no and understand what they are talking about and aren't just there to "get the hook up"..............like that is ever gonna happen,c'mon everybody although alot of us would really like to have a chatroom here on youthnoise there would be to many people under "our" level to really enjoy it.

its a great idea to have chatrooms. But how do you feel about having YouthNoise moderators in the chatrooms? i mean i really wouldnt want to see some kids who just want to have fun interfering with a chat about a discussion of a serious issue like war. What do you guys think?

yeah NOISE definatly needs a chat room
but it would prolly have to have alot rooms so every one is not just blabbing over everyone else like at yahoo or some thing. NOISE is growing every day its time we got to know the people like us here at NOISE
