I would like to renew my question with yn about gender identity on profiles. I would simply like it as a choice of an issue or cause. It is a broad enough term, including transsexuals, transgendered people, intersex people, gender queer people, androgyne folks, and of course people who are biologically and mentally aligned ( aka: your typical man or woman ).

After my request, a huge change was made in the profile area. Many causes were added, but nothing like what I specifically asked for, and "gender preference" remained the same. Of the causes, many were duplicates, simply reworded, and some where unneccisary causes, such as Interest Rates.

So here is my request again, so I am not ignored or forgotten.

I still have not received any response about this, and I am sick of seeing the incorrect gender when I visit my profile, so I will not let this fall by the wayside. It cannot be that hard to code in a third gender option into the profile.

Yes! Jenos that is exactly what I'm talking about! There are people out there who are just discovering themselves and may not identify as either, or may abhor what both stand for. Any number of reasons. There should be a third option. A simple "other" would suffice. For those who identify as male can click male, and female can click female. For the rest of us, we can click other. Many other forums have it, not just gender-variant forums.

Being androgyne and completely genderless, I would prefer a choice other than male and female. Perhaps Neutral, None, or N/A. I don't like having to pick male when I am indeed, not male.

This is still in queue and not off the table. I believe, the profiles are being upgraded which is why it hasn't been done up to now. The upgrade will have more functionality than it does now and be more user-friendly.

Not to mention that there are two things, one of them "Corporate Responsibility" that are on there word for word twice, the only difference being the second word in the cause isn't capitalized.

These are not trivial changes and we have very limited resources

I have something small to say. Well, it must be small because people are either ignoring it or disregarding it. I asked this before any major profile changes had taken place. ( See my last post! ) We then debated the subject too long to put in with those changes. This could have been done before.

We have also established that there are many repetitive and uneccesary things in that list on our profiles. It is either obvious that the real issues are being disregarded and the fluffy ones are being expanded or someone is clearly not thinking things through.

In the meantime, we have been planning for robust changes around the causes (scheduled to be live on May 11) that will allow users to add ANY cause they believe in...want to share...and/or want to take action in support of.

That would have been some nice information to tell the raging shade over here.

Aye. I had no doubt that she's been trying, which is why I addressed it to "you".

That is why we love her. Smile

And thank you, ssenauke.

While I realize that you have been making this request for a long time--and quite clearly--we have not made the change a priority because we are in the process of revamping THE ENTIRE PROCESS of user selection of causes in the profiles and throughout the site. These are not trivial changes and we have very limited resources. This week, we are completing a complete change in the way the site is hosted--a huge change. In the meantime, we have been planning for robust changes around the causes (scheduled to be live on May 11) that will allow users to add ANY cause they believe in...want to share...and/or want to take action in support of. Ultimately, this is the solution to dealing with GENDER IDENTITY as a cause on your profile. We appreciate your patience and persistence and perspective, and we are doing the best we can to accommodate ALL causes as soon as possible. (And incidentally, YNLissa has never failed to bring this issue up with me on every posting--if it were within her control, it would have been done months ago!).

Maybe I'm unsympathetic, but how long have I been asking this question? It would have been simple I think to have done it a few months ago when the profile changes were underway, but we had to beat the bush to smithereens before I could get a yes, and now the yes isn't even being followed through with. I know you're doing a lot, Lissa, but can the people you're talking to answer for themselves? I've asked that before and got nowhere ( aka: beating the bush ).

Don't give up. This is still slated to happen and I know it's taken unreasonably long but it IS going to happen.

OK, yn. You win. You tell us to fight, but give us impossible odds. You win. Simple as that. I will drop this issue, because it will never happen. I've tried patience. I've tried protest. I've tried threats. But it's obvious you won't change. Don't worry about it anymore. I won't leave on account of you.

Gender preference is still there, and no gender identity....
