quote: I appreciate your feedback Meagan, but I feel the need to explain that due to the fact that many YN users only read/discuss in specific forums, I was given instruction to post about the dance contest in more than one forum. This may seem like overkill to certain users as yourself because you probably delve into multiple areas of the message boards, but many users do not. Also, our higher ups much rather prefer that we over-promote something than not promote enough.
So basically, anyone associated with YN and YN events are above the rules? Politics. Most everyone sees the top. And the front page. With that and one thread, that is enough. Plus I like Meg's idea. Most people have to skim to their thread that they read. Also I remember being forced to read a thread once because it was SO BIG that it took up an enitre area of thread topics. While annoying, it did get my attention. Anyway to do that instead of spamming?

The idea of posting the same content multiple times within the boards was met once before with overwhelming opposition. Posting something on the homepage, at the top of the boards AND posting in 3 forums is overkill. I personally am drawn away from things when they are so overexposed. I understand YN's need to advertise their contests. As a compromise, perhaps YN staff could look into "featuring" threads about important events? (In case you are unfamiliar with this, it's when a thread is featured as the top thread in a forum until such a time that it is no longer desirable to keep it there. I think this would be more effective than posting the same thing multiple times which seems to just attract negative publicity to those who view it.) That's my two cents. Take it for what it's worth.
