I recommend just taking ideas from both current and former popular threads. I really like the idea of organized chat debates.
And about this chat moderation...how will it work? I could see things quickly getting out of hand with this group in chat, but at the same time, the idea of a "censored chat" seems both nearly impossible to execute (aside from approving every line of text before it goes live) and horribly annoying.

The YNMod name is a shared name with whomever is helping moderate boards whether it was was regular staff or interns.
When the chats go live at first they will be scheduled chats, probably with a particular topic in mind. Of course plenty of notice will be given on boards and homepage.
Going forward if YN has enough help to hold regular random chats we may try to do so. There's still not a timeframe available for when we will go forward with the first chat but we are working on it.

And I disagree fatfull. I don't want all NMers to have my screenname... I have a feeling these chats will be more debatish, but I am just going on assumptions.

I think the chat's should be with AIM, considering how everyone has it. They should just get an alert when the chat is going on, just how Kat tells me when you guys are chatting.
I think YNKaroline is YNLissa by the way. If not, then why does YNKaroline's name show YNLissa's public profile?

The chats will be live soon, there isn't a time table set for when the chats will be live (it could be a few weeks or a month or so) The team is working hard to make it happen. There are a few outstanding moderation issues that we have to address.
But, since we're on the topic...any ideas for topics? We're planning to have topic-specific chats once the functionality is live, as well as occasional general chats.
