Eve will be doing some site maintenance on June 20th, 2008 and have said to expect some downtime on the boards. I don't have any further information on this but will be sure to pass along if any comes my way.

I'm no Lissa, but if you have your own hosting (that is, not something free like Geocities or whatever's popular these days) you might want to check out Open Source CMS; they have a pretty decent selection of free forum software. phpBB is fairly popular from what I understand--I've tried it myself once just to screw around with it and it's not too hard to get running--but I've heard good things about PunBB too.

Just got news that expected time for maintenance will be tonight 9PM PST --> Downtime they expect will not take this long but it could be at most 24 hours. Slash- You can get information here at Eve/GroupeeThis service does cost, but I do know there are some out there for no cost. I'm not sure how reliable they are but if I find out anything more I will be sure to let you know.
