MN debater, AIM me, I'm probably on and I'm probably bored... toughgirldb8r
Okay... basically horseartistgrl27 and I'm not trying to offend you but you need to either get out of your conservative christian world and see what its really like out here for the rest of us OR... leave YN because obviously we're not going to stop swearing and we're not doing to so you'll leave its just something we do... kinda like breathing... or saying the word "like" when explaing something.. its part of our language wherther you like or not. :P
Edit: Also on the topic of temptation... I didn't swear for 2 years after I went to public highschool... and I still don't swear in front of my parents. Just because people swear around you doesn't mean you will.
Well, isn't this a trend that we would like to end? Plus, most of the people who are saying the swears, I have noticed, are over 18. (but this statement doesn't apply to me, because I attend a Christian school, where any form of swear is not allowed.)
I'm going to be honest. I don't care if people swear in moderation as long as they are old enough to understand what they are saying and are able to accept any consequences that may occur. And by middle school, they know.
I went to public schools all my life and a slight word on my behalf every few weeks was not a big deal. Many people here listen to music that goes "Fuck you you motherfucking fucker" or stuff like that. They use the language they know. As Triss said, it's their culture.
You say you are to avoid temptation? Maybe you should try to beat temptation instead? It would be a valid experience to have learned at an early age, especially when you reach sixteen plus.

Not necessarily. There are words that I have vowed not to use that really really bug me and that everyone else uses (both on-line, at school, in the movies, etc). It is possible to control yourself, to make sure you never say the words you do not want to say without meaning to.
Finally, a few things: 1. You really aren't that annoying. 2. You can't rule the world if I get there first. 3. There are seven Sesame Streets in the world; One is in France. 4. In a standard word document with Times New Roman text, when double-spaced, there are 23 lines to a page. 5. My school pays $3 for black dry erase markers. 6. Yes mods, I am off topic. But I couldn't resist.

I know this is a youth site, but as I've said before, I hear more people swearing in a high school or middle school setting than anywhere else.

Yes, centain swears I have more of a problem with.
I know I can't control the actions of others, (well, not until I take over the world), but I can control myself. In my religion, it is clear that I'm not to swear, use God name in vain (that means no OMG), and that I am to stear clear of things that will tempt me to do wrong. If youthnoise is going to tempt me to swear, then I must leave. That doesn't mean I will have to stop debating, I plan to start a debate club, and join Mock Trail (my school has an amazing team, we have taken 1st in state many times, and in 2006 (maybe 2005), we took 3rd in the nation, thanks to the help of my older sister. Debating is in my blood. You should see our family dinners, there is a ton of debating there, mostly politics, though.) ANYWAY. I can not continue to debate if people are going to swear. I see them, I become familiar with them. Before you know it, they are coming out of my mouth. I will not let it go that far. They may be easy for you to ignore, but I cannot. It goes against my religion, I can't ignore things. Ever.
As for the fact that it was easy to get around, I guess it would be a policy more than I rule. (if I ran this site, I would put suspencions for those that break rules. But I don't run it. I will rule the world, though.) But still, I wish that people would be considerate enough to stop because it bugs some people. Like, I can do alot of things that will bug you. I'm doing one right now, in this post. Did you see it? Is it getting annoying? How I claim that I will rule the world atleast twice in each post? I could also go on and on about random facts about horses on every single post. I did that to one of my friends once. She had a habit of saying oh my God alot. So every time she did I said a random fact about horses. She got pretty annoyed, and soon she stopped. So, I have taken enough consideration to not go on and on about horses, animals, my taking over the world. But I will no longer have that consideration for the ants of YN members until they take consideration for me.
Did you know that horses lack the ability to vomit? So whenever they eat too much, or they eat alot of oats then water they get a condition called colic? If they do, then their stomach will explode, and they will die. So you have to walk them out for hours, and hope that it wasn't severe enough to kill them.
Now wasn't that pleasant? I also know over 75 breeds of horses. That will be what I list the next time someone swears. Just a taste of how annoyed and disgusted I am when someone swears.
oh, sorry Trisscar, I didn't see your post. But there are certain things that I will not except. Swearing is one of them. Swears are dumb. They really are. WHO INVENTED THEM! why can't words be words? why can't your middle finger be your middle finger? GRR!!
There is a point in our lives where we can do what is easy, or we can do what is right.
I'm all for swearing... basically if you're not ready accept people swearing you're not ready to accept the reality of life. The reality of it all is - people swear... it's something you're going to have accept sooner or later. But I know where you're comming from. I grew up in a conservative Christian home and swearing was VERY looked down on. I was shocked once I entered society to find that people swear everyday. I homeschooled right out of elementary school for 2 years and I was very offended at first. After awhile though I realized that people don't swear to offend you.. they do it because its part of THEIR culture.. maybe not yours but for sure theirs.
So instead of getting offended by swearing understand that it has nothing to do with you and that people don't do it just to rude or offensive but that its part of their culture and who they are as an individual.
Do we really want today's youth to be saying inappropriate things?
Who is to determine what is inappropriate or not? To me, swearing occasionally is not that inappropriate though to you it is. So whose side does YN take?
I know this is a youth site, but as I've said before, I hear more people swearing in a high school or middle school setting than anywhere else. To some of those people, swearing is appropriate because its how they grew up, though other people believe otherwise. Again, this leads to the question of whose viewpoint do we go by?
I was here when there was a filter, and trust me. It was incredibly easy to get around.
I do hope you do not let the views and language of some people deter you from doing something you love. Everyone has things that others do that bothers them, but sometimes you need to just live and let live. As much as I'd like to at times, I cannot control the actions of other people and I, personally, do not feel a filter would have as much as an impact as you would hope. People will find ways around it and continue to use words that others do not appreciate.
