ive got a kind of wierd story ok here it goes.

one day a terrorist stood over the body of an American. A democrat comes up to him,

"Oh he isnt doing anything wrong! he is just worshipping his god and submitting to his beliefs."

a republican comes up to the terrorist,

*bang*

a texan comes up to the terrorist,

*bang* *bang* *bang bang bang bang bang bang*

his wife says, *texan accent* "hoss...i think he's still movin."

*bangbangbangbangbangbangbang*

his kids says in the same accent,

"paw, he just twitched"

*banbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbang*

its kind of wierd but it does have meaning behind it. Smile

ok then jookly. in that case, in order to foster more courteous relationships here in youthnoise, i believe that we should all refer to each other with the term "esquire". what do you think, madpuffin esq.? hm, kinda has a nice ring to it.

*This post has been deemed free of triangles by me, in my endless pursuit to cast out all traces of triangles from youthNOISE. surely, if i tell everyone fifty times a day that i hate triangles, they will hate them too. by posting this signature, i can join the crusade against triangles without ever mentioning it in the body of my messages. in fact, the use of this signature entitles me to use triangles in a message, even though i am fighting against them.*

I don't want you to explain it. If you honestly cant understand what redrepublican posted it is sad but doesnt really matter. You will learn words some day and then you will show them. You will show them all!

Prove it, Jookly. I've never heard that in my life. Most people, and I'm saying if what you are saying is true, believe it to mean only that you have a high degree in law.

That is usually how it is used in America so most Americans believe that it can only be applied to lawyers.

Please refer to definition number 3 from Merriam-Webster:
"3. used as a title of courtesy usually placed in its abbreviated form after the surname"

Also for reassurance reffer to the
Encarta Online Dictionary. Where it says "a courtesy title placed after a man’s full name, especially in correspondence".

why would you be honorific??

i have another idea, give an "i-dont-care" liberal like me a gun, and someone from the "honorable" coalition another one, and see who shoots first at the count of three.

Esq. is an honorific, you don't need a certain profession or age to put it on your name.

funny, i'd heard in the past that rr was around the age of 20. if he is indeed only 14, why does he so arrogantly reffer to himself with the term "esquire". he is neither a lawyer, nor a squire, nor an medieval english or irish nobleman owning a large plot of land in either of those countries. explanation?

Muffin-
quote:
How could you possibly manipulate the context to mean that he wasn't talking to me? I'd like to see you try.

The context doesnt need to be manipulated. When red said "you" it clearly meant anyone who was not in the coalition and interested in seeing the doctrine. You have already stated several times you showed no interest in the doctrine and therefore the you being referred to does not include yourself.

Further, I would like to point out that grouping individuals under a word such as you or we is not uncommon. Just to add some example to that statment please reffer to this quote of yours where you call all people complaining about the coalition as "we".
quote:
This is what we mean. And it doesn't sound as though you honestly have any intention of scaling things .....

So it is now hopefully clear that you can reffer to a group of individuals and in this context, it did.
