Now that Lisa isn't here, I wonder if any of the staff members are even bothering to read the boards at all.

If I didn't know that there were mods vigilantly monitoring the boards (even without a set schedule...since no one seems to have taken that on since Lisa left...), and if I weren't one myself, I would just say a bunch of inappropriate things, just to see what action, if any, is taken. Alas, the first two facts cannot be denied, thus, I will instead wait anxiously for a response to this post...

I am a bit perturbed with the direction the site has taken in the past several months. Just in case anyone cares.

If anyone else shares my sentiments, feel free to speak out. Isn't that what YN is supposed to be all about?

It lacks the passion that it used to have.

I just don't feel like there are many regulars anymore. It's almost like the comment section at the bottom of a news story: you come, you speak your piece, you leave, never to be heard from again. Sure there is something to be said for having important discussion...but there's also something about commradery, commitment and plain old fun.

What's wrong with a bit of cheese every now and then? How about this nice news story that talks about cheese?

I actually like the boards better now. People are actually discussing, like, news. And politics. Instead of cheese or fake relationships or whatever.

Being a veteran, you know when something is amiss and when it needs to be cleared up. It's great that YN focus on charity and creating projects of philanthropy but it's not the same without Lisa. I knew the site felt different, but I couldn't place my finger on it.

A message to the new mods: the boards are going south due to newbies. do a better job at watching both.

I stop by the site every once in awhile, but I guess I missed when Lisa left. When did this happen?

I agree with Ikki, I have seen things on these boards that need to be cleaned up. I am a former peer-mod, though had to leave my post because of my increasing workload.

However..
We must remember that YN is a non-profit organization. We don't pay anything to use the boards, encourage debate, or help make change. YN staffers work very hard to make their organization as effective as possible. I am sure YN, just like every other organization out there, is trying their best to make do with what they have in this tough economic climate. I gotta believe that donations are down, which is making it even harder for YN to stay afloat.

Meagan and Ikki, I am sorry you feel you are being ignored. I want you to know that the YN staff does care about what our members think and we are trying our best to manage the site and our campaigns with a very limited number of employees. Thank you for bringing the board moderation issue up; we have been moderating when we can, but you're right, it does need to be addressed and we're working on it. I'd like to open up the dialogue so you guys can express concerns or constructive criticism you have about the site.

If anyone has concerns you don't want to discuss here, you are always welcome to email me at citijomanager@youthnoise.org. Thank you!

You mean you're going to be nice enough not to see what happens to this:

[Censored for profanity- ed.]

I concur with you, Megara. Thus the reason I left. And on that note, it is time that I leave again. Goodbye, YN. Twenty-one year-old me needs to do homework. And actually live a life that isn't simply an idealistic yearning that is impractical in actuality.
