I have noticed several new members coming to the site with zero information (the basics, age/sex/state) in their profiles. Is there any way to make this mandatory?

It really does help to paint a general picture of where they're coming from on certain issues without having to reply with a post asking them and hope they ever come back to answer.

Plus, I thought it was required that all new members be at least 13 years in age, I don't understand how we are able to determine that if their age is not given...

It's also annoying when someone logs in, you look at their profile date, and it says they joined in 2002 and last logged in in 2002, even though you KNOW they logged in in 2007.

Just wanted to point out that this issue has yet to be resolved, and in some of the newbie's cases it's annoying me.

Fill out your profiles, guys! babytink's got the right idea.

I have checked out things from my end and it looks like birthdates and all were filled out but for some reason the profiles aren't showing up. I have sent the tech team a note about this.

Other profile issues that have been addressed on the boards and ages showing up a year older on some profiles is on the task list as well.

You know the other day I was actually wondering about the same thing Meg is talking about. It hadn't been until lately that I encountered profiles like those. I use to always be able to see that information on their profile and I've been on this site for quite some time. Are this part of the recent changes YN has undergone or is it that I was just lucky enough not to come across one of this profiles in the four years I've been on YN?

I thought it used to be put in the sidebar automatically, but then I was looking at some profiles such as:

and their ages weren't listed.

I was looking at a few profiles and ages are shown in left sidebar.

I guess what I don't understand is why/how the person's age isn't automatically put into their profile when they register. I thought it used to do that...perhaps I am mistaken?

I agree, it would be nice if people would take the time to fill out their profiles after they signed up. I'm not sure if we could make it mandatory for a person to fill out their profile as many people just don't want that information out there no matter how vague that info is.

When a person signs up for YN inserting their birthdate is required. So even if it's not showing up in profile this information is in the database. If a person is under 13 they will get a message about YN age regulations and asking them to come back when they are 13.
