As of this moment, there are 43,477 registered YN accounts. At least 4 are mine throughout the years (by the way, I'm on page 430 of 435. Beat that. Except Lisa.)

My statement wasn't directed at you, Lissa. I know you always work very hard to help us.

I know that YN is working on a lot of new things, and that's good. I just thought that asking for 100,000 new members in return for a background color was extreme. I don't know, maybe it's just me.

I still love YN though, regardless. What can I say, you people have been great to me. See what you did to me?

Truthfully, I've loved the orange we had but I honestly don't have any idea here because we're what we're talking about is a redesign of the site and that is not a small task by any means. We have new things coming very soon and still working on a few bugs elsewhere, not to mention still have a queue of items we need to work on. This still isn't an answer I know but I just don't have one.

Hm...in other words that's a no.

I don't know if I'm alone on this, but does it really take 100,000 new members in exchange for an orange background?

Because this is how I see it: the current members of YN(I can't speak for everyone though) would like an orange background, not new people who haven't even heard of YN in their lives and could care less what background color this website has when they've never even visited it.

I don't mean to be rude in any way, but I think I would respect more a straightforward(and honest) "no," than a "maybe if you do this" that is never really going to happen.

In all honesty, asides from the boards and the whole attempt to empower youth and give youth a voice, what does YN DO? How would you advertise YN to a group of college students?

I would like to point out that all/most of us found YN when it was wonderfully orange (and slightly blinding).

How in the world do you expect us to get A HUNDRED THOUSAND new members to join YN?!? aLook, Mark, you obviously don't understand how big of a number a hundred thousand is. Like ten people signed the petition, so we'd each have to get 10,000 people to join. That's A LOT of people. A dare you to go get 10,000 people to join, singlehandedly, without the resources YN has. Could you? Didn't think so. So how do you expect US to?!

Would it really be that difficult to make the site orange again? It's obvious we all really liked it and want it back.

How many registered members do we have now?

And we would need to get the new members to sign our petition for them to count towards the 100,000?

I don't know, I'm quite an optimist, but that seems like an awfully lofty goal...

I guess what I don't understand is how we can't have a broad scope of the site with the color orange. Much as I love orange dearly, it's just a color. It's not necessarily the color that's the issue, but what we DO with the color.

That being said, I would urge YN to come back to the negotiations table and work more with the involved current members to work out a more reasonable way to achieve the desired results for both parties.

If you, project members, can start a virtual petition and bring 100,000 NEW members to the site to register and sign your petition to bring the orange back to YN, then YN will indeed recreate an orange haven. The reason that these need to be new registrants is because one of the many reasons YN has changed the look of the site is to broaden the scope and attract new members. So, if you care that much and you can help further the goals of YN outreach as well as create a movement and deepen engagement, then you will show that the process really works and your project will be a success with the desired goal met.

So our project in the project database is being deleted because no one understands what "orange" means, apparently.

More demands from the Orange Campaign:

We demand a separate section for every major color-- red, blue, green, yellow, black, brown, white, indigo, purple, pink, gray--- and 6 seperate sections to discuss varying shades of orange.

Either that or an orange background (or both!). Your choice.
