I'm the only one on. And I'm wondering why ALL of Jam's posts are disapearing. I didn't find her poems offensive at all (not great, but not offensive)- and I think its a bit extreme that you're doing away with all the evidence that she came back. Doesn't she have the same right as the rest of us to voice her opinion. (I do understand why you got rid of the pointless, harsh posts but why the okay ones?) - Aren't you going a bit overboard?

I have no clue how I missed this thread.... The sex spammer thing was just weird.
It must be lovely to wake up in the morning and understand everything.

Hey I don´t see a reason why NOT to have mods... my only problem is that you can delete threads thus easily... blame my paranoia, but it´s a bit disturbing. quote: I missed the sex spammer? Dang...that's what I get for relying on email to tell me what's happening. It was funny.

How deep and provocative. Can I be a mod? I'd love to have my proposed YNmodPrankster account.

Good morning everybody, I certainly don't feel like any of the mods have been on a power trip but I do feel like many good points have been brought up in this thread and will touch base with moderators for discussion as soon as possible.
It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice.

Just so you guys know, there are better ways of handling this. Noisemail is here for a reason. Hydrok, I vaguely remember you shutting down threads about people talking about moderators when you were a mod. Anyway, people. Moderators are not out to get you. We are not power whores. We have nothing against you. We are just trying to do our jobs to the best of our abilities. If you think we did something wrong, let us know. Not on a forum, but individually, through noisemail or email. Mod8 is a new mod, and like most new mods they make mistakes. I honestly don't know the situation, but whatever it is, this is not the best way of dealing with it. If you disagree with a mod, please know that we are just trying to do our best to make the boards as spam and vulgarity free as possible. I remember when I first got my modding powers I went and censored out every cuss word that wasn't censored by the filter (back when there was one). I regret that. Please, just lighten the feck up.

it's a hard job protecting you people from the cruel harsh world of spammers and above average stupidity but someone's got to do it

It was locked not deleted and it was locked because the thread owner (or closest thing to it really) wanted it locked because it was so far off topic Oy the sex spammer thing was a pain in the ass to clean up almost as bad as that hahahaha guy which had me deleting something like 80 posts from the games thread

Exactly. If you're going to delete a thread (I know I am asking for something utterly unrealistic unless YNLissa lives in front of her computer), can the thread be evaluated as to why it is being deleted first? Like wikis, which are nominated for deletion first but not just deleted so damn easily. Hey, I've probably been more benefited from mod's powers than you all combined. Jamaica era, anyone? By the way, I did see the sex spammer thing. Damn.

I think they should be allowed to delete threads. They just need a valid reason for doing such. I might be biased since I have personally benifited from the mods power to delete threads at least twice.

Nah, our power to delete threads is actually pretty essential. A few weeks ago a sex site spammer came on and posted about 50 new threads promoting his site.
Ye all would have been lost without us, I tell you!
Wow, totally forgot I'd logged on to my regular account. Oh well.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thoughts a lot of mods go on power trips. Deleting the Pinneapple thread was stupid. End of story. There was no insane insulting, racism, spam, or any of that crap on it. I think mods should be removed of their power to delete threads...I mean fine delete posts, but threads it's just a little much.

Heh, that's true...I've axed my share of spam threads without an explanation.
It's so satisfying to do, too.

Lord give us more slow days I've only given a thread the axe immediatly a few times but it was because of the thread topic itself not because of content added by posters
