Okay, now, everywhere I look on this website there is stuff on teen sex, abuse, and violence. That is all well and good, but those issues, to an extent, have been beat into the ground. There is nothing on this website about animal rights. When I say that, I'm referring to animals in shelters, boycotting fur and leather, becoming a vegetarian. I understand that there are other important issues out there, but animals cannot speak for themselves. We need to speak for them. Look at your cat, or dog, or whatever pet you have. Could you ever imagine hurting them? Well, everyday, thousands of animals end up in shelters for just that reason. And those are the lucky ones. Animals are killed, abused, and worse, by people who don't realize how special they are. You may empathize with this issue, but frankly that isn't enough. If you have room in your home, go to a shelter and adopt a pet. If not, volunteer at a shelter. Those animals would be so excited to have someone there to play with them and love them. They can get very lonely. When I'm away at college, I volunteer at the local animal shelters, and even though I miss my two cats, Pepper and Mikey, at home, it's like I have surrogate pets at the shelter, that I can go see anytime I want. I'm not trying to sound like a bleeding heart activist right now, so if I do, don't hold it against me. I just can't bear the thought of little cats and dogs sitting in a cage somewhere, all alone, hoping and praying for someone to come love them. Doesn't this break your heart? Please, nursing homes are nice. Soup kitchens are nice. But try to look at something that isn't as common-animal shelters. Help give an animal some hope. Be the voice for those who have none. Thanks!

Andrea
