quote: First off, yes, MOST of us are "big kids", but, in the past there have been many people who have tried to take advantage/misuse the boards. YN needs to remain a respectable place for teens to talk about different issues. We cannot, under any circumstances, let our guard down.
Pictures...YN staff works hard everyday to provide up to date and fresh coverage, be patient with the pictures, there could be worse problems around here (and trust me, there have been).
Then, as someone else said, let the mods that are over 18 do the pictures. It'd take pressure off the staff, and besides, the main reason why the porn pictures were posted in the first place is over. We won't let it come back. And while you're at it, getting a respectful place, tell people to stop advertising on YN. It does not make me feel as if YN is a safe place when I see ads telling me about who to listen to, what to buy, etc, nor do I appreciate outside sources coming in and trying to poll me. And seriously, why is this issue pissing me off almost as much as that email? Oh, and there's one more thing that makes me feel weary about YN's respectful attitude and being a safe place but, sadly, I cannot feel safe talking about it on the boards.

I think everyone means an orange background though. When they say orange.

I don't know about all you guys, but I gotta disagree with some of the suggestions here...and let me tell you why.
First off, yes, MOST of us are "big kids", but, in the past there have been many people who have tried to take advantage/misuse the boards. YN needs to remain a respectable place for teens to talk about different issues. We cannot, under any circumstances, let our guard down.

It is better to be on the safe side when it comes to pictures and that sort of thing...legally it could turn into a mess.
Oh, YN is orange, theres no changing that. However, a survey would be important to get ideas, though you guys posting here is probably better than any survey.

I concur with Shade concerning picture approval. It once took 3 days for a picture to be approved, and it was lost forever at that point.

I love the old orange pinstripes. Haha. (Surveys are cool) Mods approving pictures. That would be convenient. Sometimes the picture gets drowned in the conversation (especially in Randomosity) and it's pointless to have it approved a day later when it was needed then. No one would see it a day later because a page might be on top of it.

Or maybe the mods could approve pictures? I don't know how possible that is though...and for liability you would probably only want 18+ mods doing it...something to think about though.

Can our sigs and avatars go live sans moderation? Most of us are big kids, we don't need an adult watching over us. Same with pictures, as well. Not that that one applies to me... (And honestly, if one was really offensive, you'd hear about it.)

I like the colors the way they are. Agreed on the signatures, and as far as thread cascades go, this is actually more convenient, you can see the first post, and the most current post at the same time without having to scroll all over the place. Maybe more profile options.

Is there a time you need to know by? I'd like to think on it for a little bit before I respond.

No! quote: Does anyone have any comments on private messaging or moderation or colors or anything like that? Orange, please. This site is in desperate need for color. Right now it looks sort of boring and plain. We need something that stands out, but also that blends well with the rest of the site. We need this site to scream "We're making noise here!" not..."We are so bored our faces have fallen on top of our keyboards." quote: I was also thinking of making a short survey. Would anyone be interested in filling one out if we made one up? I'll make it short and to the point. I wouldn't mind filling out a survey if there ws one. quote: I'd like to see the four History boards combined into one (as of the time of this writing, it's been a week since anyone posted on any of them). I concur with Fina here. I think it's a waste to have multiple history boards if they aren't active half of the time. They should be all put in to one category. I'm thinking about more things, I'll get back to this later.

Hi all. I'm one of the YN developers who will be working on this project. We want to get your opinions on this because you're our users and I want to make sure that we actually improve the service and not just change it on you. Change without gains is not what we're after. Does anyone have any comments on private messaging or moderation or colors or anything like that? I was also thinking of making a short survey. Would anyone be interested in filling one out if we made one up? I'll make it short and to the point. Kelvin

A visual arts forum would be nice as a companion to the Lit/Poetry/Philosophy subforum. I wouldn't use it, but I'd imagine some might appreciate being able to place certain users on ignore. Ideologues who constantly spout the same bullshit, that sort of thing. Also, I agree that it wouldn't hurt to consolidate some of the more inactive subforums.

NO! I like it the way that it is...it's much more convenient for insane threads such as JPAAH. I agree with the sig box. Other than that, not really any complaints. I would like whatever comes in orange I think...

I'd like to see the four History boards combined into one (as of the time of this writing, it's been a week since anyone posted on any of them). I'd like to see a "Society" board or an "Other" board as a sub-category of the Society section. A lot of things that have to do with society don't quite fit in any of the existing sections. quote: Originally posted by ampmaster: and changing the signature system from a line to a box would let us have more control in how we do our sigs (most forums have a box system like that)
Agreed. quote: a normal cascade for posts would be very cool in my opinion (oldest - newest type cascade that is)
Disagreed. We'd confuse fewer newbies, but we'd lose part of our unique backwards charm.
And then, as the books were told, Fina replied: "A can of worms, my dear friend? What has this to do with reason?"
