Well, I can't really go to any of them. Oh well. C'est la vie.

And no summit in Detroit. Anyone else think the locations chosen are a bit skewed westward? With the exception of Charlotte, there's nothing East Coast at all.

Yeah, unfortunately I would need a Detroit date...preferably May-August when I'm off school. I do agree with Cap on the community problems too.

Me thinks Detroit should be on that list... Three YNers who frequent the site live near Detroit. Edit: And Detroit has the most problems, and that's the point of the thing, right? To address problems? :P

1. They're not in the summer. 2. They're not near enough. 3. If I traveled there, it wouldn't technically be my community. Sad.

OK - News on the YN Summits is here. Sorry for the delay. A total of 14 summits will be held. Of these 6 will be held in California. Dates and locations we know now follow. Each Summit is a 2-day non-conference - meaning the people who attend create the agenda. The point of the conference is -yes to meet other NMers - but also to identify issues in your communities you want to address - problems with campuses, environmental problems, problems on the streets, health issues, human rights issues, etc. and then join together to form projects that can improve the problems, address the issues and make change happen on the ground - using web tools, networks, etc. We'll hold a ,cultural event on the Saturday evening - bands, spoken word, films, dance, dinner, etc. So we begin in San Francisco on September 1 & 2. San Jose - September 22/23 Denver - October 13/14 Austin - January 26/27 Chalotte - February 23/24 New Orleans - March 29/30 Fresno - April 12/13 Minneapolis/St. Paul - May 3/4 Seattle - August 16/17 We'll need lots of help organizing, running and spreading the word on these events. Please let Beth at YouthNoise know if you are interested in helping. Her email is beth@youthnoise.org. Thanks, and Happy 4th of July, Ginger - YN CEO

7 hours to Detroit, Meg. Twin Cities are only 4 and a half (can be made in less. Don't ask how I know.) away. Chicago's closest. Only 2.5. And now you all probably know where I live.

Yes, we are holding a series of 10 youth summits around the US. We have not settled on the locations and dates, but we'll be letting everyone know as soon as we are sure about the locations. We look forward to seeing you as we travel around the country! If you are interested in volunteering to help bring lots of people to the events, let us know! We'll need all your help to make these great. Thanks, Ginger

Hm, I might be able to go to California. But then again, that's around the time next semester starts.
