YouthNOISE, thanks for deleting my thread this morning.
I'm sure the audience would have had a blast denouncing the f-word to describe a homosexual person.
Of course, had it not been deleted, people would have seen my point in the whole thing.
GD is by far the most demeaning swear-word of them all, and yet it's off limits to say the first four words of homosexual and the f-word to describe homosexuals?
That is beyond unfair, and Aguagon's subject line regarding moral values should at least be edited.
Not saying delete the thread, but at LEAST edit the headline.

quote: By supporting them means IT IS OK FOR YOU TO LISTEN TO THEM SAY IT, which of course, CONTRADICTS WHAT YOU SAID THAT YOU DONT LIKE HEARING IT. It is not called self-expression, it is called ABUSE. If you dont like hearing it, why do you abuse yourself and others by allowing it to flourish?
I emphasize my point above.

I thought you hated hearing those words.... Certainly IT AFFECTS YOU. quote: You are so clever. Touché. Really. I mean it. Incredibly clever.. except, like.. you know. I DON'T BELIEVE IN SATAN.

quote: Jamaica, if people want to cuss, let them cuss. If you don't like it, then keep your mouth shut and suck it up.
Why? that would be violating the rules right? Rule no. 3.Posting, transmitting, promoting, distributing or facilitating the distribution of any content that is obscene, sexually explicit, vulgar or pornographic, or soliciting sexually explicit photographs or text from other NOISEmakers. Keep it clean. and rule no. 5. Disrupting the flow of bulletin board areas with vulgar language, abusiveness, repeatedly submitting the same content, explicitly sexual content, off-topic content or other conduct that may disrupt normal activities. It's not shocking, it's boring. IF THIS IS FREE SPEECH, WHY DO THEY PUT UP RULES LIKE THAT?

Why do you still question this Joey? As an old member of Yn, you should be able to note that, most of the YNers here speak any kind of cuss word not just the GD or the F word or whatever. And oh, to me, EVERY cuss word is DEMEANING.

Yes, GD*mn uses the lord's name in vain, I don't like seeing it but I'm sure it pops out of my mouth occassionally. Currently I'm more concerned about curbing (seemingly) more important sins, such as my tendency to manipulate, lie, not reading my bible or attending church enough, and my inability to stop myself from running rampant sexually. This thread did remind me of a funny joke. 2 guys are golfing and 1 of them is terrible. He tries to tee off, takes a swing and completely misses the ball, shouting "*******it I missed". His partner says, "hey dude, you just took the lord's name in vain, if you do that twice more he will strike you down with a bolt of lightning." "Yeah right, just let me take my shot" he replies as he readies his swing. He swings incredibly hard and shanks the ball off into the lake shouting "*******it I missed!". His partner says "I'm telling you man, if you say that again god will strike you down with lightning from above". The golfer tees up another ball and concentrates, takes a deep breath and swings, hitting the ball directly throught the large stained glass clubhouse window and shouts furiously "*******it I missed". A bolt of lightning comes screeching from the sky and strikes a tree 10 feet from the golfer and after a brief silence a booming voice from the heavens says "*******it I missed".
"Mac, you ever been in love?" - "No, I've been a bartender all my life."

So does 'jeez'. I really don't see how this is terribly different from 'God bless'. So it's appropriate for us to tell God to who to look favorably upon, but not who to condemn?

Disrupting the flow of bulletin board areas with vulgar language. You are violating this rule. If there are rules, we should follow them, not pretend to be innocent and save face by censoring it.. As much as possible, DONT CUSS. If it is in the rules, follow it.

Joey, while I admire your all or nothing stance on censorship, I'm quite content to take the fact that my thread remains unchanged as a step in the right direction. It went with the subject matter, and was designed to be funny and ironic. I am kind of surprised that you would call goddam "the most demeaning swear-word of them all." As an anti-censorship libertarian, I would have figured you thought the offensiveness of certain words to be a subjective thing. Maybe you do, and are just trying to prove a point by looking at it from someone else's eyes? I'd appreciate clarification. In any case, mods, edit if you must. I won't throw a hissyfit. Just know that the majority of the YN Community views letting it stand as a step in the right direction.
