It's a wonderfull idea, but what will happen to the adoption thread?

I think it's a great idea and will definetely benifit the new people. Whenever you're new someplace, you want to be accepted, right? So, I think this is a great way to help them feel more welcome.

Guys, this is a great idea. While yogore is right in asking everyone to just be nice , it's also nice to have someone there to show you the ropes. I'm going to ask around with the staff. Meanwhile, go ahead and post if you want to be involved and maybe we can get something going here!

The shout outs for the adoption thread didn't seem to help much...

It was good in theory, but it ended up without any newbies wanting to participate...which caused the thread to lose any usefulness...

Yogore, I think what risk is getting at is that this will be a more organized way of accepting people, and making sure they feel more welcome. The whole YN-adoption-idea was kinda lame if you ask me.

Just how many new people join each week? I think that is a valid question to ask in order to figure out just how many of us there should be...

Yog, sometimes that's hard and when we first come to YN, we all want to fit in and not be screamed at. In case you haven't noticed, I don't bitch at newbs as I used to. I can be nice, it is possible. I'm a nice person.

Or we could all just be nice to new people...? Although people here hardly seem capable of that sometimes. I think it's a decent idea.

I think I'd rather be a greeter than a mod too actually... a chance to be more friendly and make sure the general rules are known... and not as many POed people...
