Censored due to being anatomically correct:
[LIST]
  • ****** (V@gina)
  • ***** (Peni$)
  • ****oris (****ori$)

These words aren't abused here and the implication is almost exactly like suspicionless/random drug testing in schools. There is NO established problem with cursing, insults or so-called "offensive" language. Much like drugs there is a serious debate as to why they're even established as "curses".
Simply becasue we are youths we are prohibited from even writing words containing anotomical refrences in a biological discussion. This is the job of a responsible parent, not an overlording website lying about it's commitment to youths and rights.
It is a fruad upon the community you've built at this site and a travesty. I don't wan't to have to resort to using '@' and '$' or '*' to get my point accross. It degrades the message and assumes what I'm saying needs or even deserves ot be censored without reason. Silence is not the answer.
If someone is explain birth control or debating the important and controversial issues around teen sex, they should not be forced to write "v a g i n a" as if it wasn't the correct thing to say.
Simple things like a frank discussion on m@$terbation might not be for everyone but to unilaterally censor and prohibit discussion can only force honest discussion to be oversimplified, inaccurate, misinformed, or simply cease all education simply due to it's content.
This seems very much against the mission of YouthNOISE where we discuss drug legalization or the merits of 'safe' drug use. And I would Urge reconsideration of all censorship unless harm or abuse is documaented and proven.
This site could be very valuable to teens. You even have a new "mission" for us to tell everyone how great you all are and how much this site helps. It would be more valuable however, if we were allowed to speak freely. Treat us with respect. We should not have to beg and plead for more rights from our elders and certainly not from people who are supposed to help us.
No intenet censoring software has yet been able to "protect" kids from so-called "objectionable" materials without taking away equally educational material simply because not everything worth knowing in this world is pure an wholesome. Likewise you degrade meaningful discourse under some unstated guise of "protection" for a problem that has not been established ot exist.
Certainly there are "bad seeds" bound to come along, but part of the responsibility of a good moderator is to not limit conversation simply becasue one person acts up. Those people can be dealt with. On a minimal basis individual posts can and are deal with, without endangering discussion.
It is your right as a private site to set rules and guidelines, but you also have a mission and a responsibility to the youth who frequent your NOISEboards looking for somethng better and more diverse than their clique or crowd.
    Please don't kill the messenger.

In a topic about virginity, I needed to use the word or.gasm to make a point. The thing is, it's not a bad word. I think there's way too much censorship here.

For a website that encourages opinions and free speech I think that having such strict censor is wrong, I mean come on,what are they, they are just words that help to emphisize or express a feeling more strongly.Yet i would agree that they should be censored if a personal attack was made directly to a person. But this site should not have people that are dumb enough to rise to this. Thanks for reading this.

When would those words be necessary in any discussion? If you want to be politically correct, then you would refer to homosexuals as such as opposed to the derogatory shortened version. And as for your other examples, what purpose would those words serve in any discussion?

I also agree with watchman in the fact that something should be looked at for the ways to bypass the censor, because as he has said, it defeats the purpose.

However, what it all boils down to is how mature/immature people are on these boards. A mature person will realize that these words are not necessary in an intellegent conversation and that there are better words to use to convey your point of view. So how about some mature conversations from now on huh?

heehee, I wasn't really thinking when I posted that (if the words I'm using as examples are censored, then people can't read them). The first word is "h o m o", and the second is "c l i toris".

if you really want to encourage constructive discussion on critical topics, it doesn't seem to make sense to censor words like "****" and "****oris". (especially with h o m o -- establishing it as an innapropriate word is pretty insensitive to homosexuals.)

In contrast, several people know how to get around the censor. I have seen, and I quote, "$hit" several times. I think adaptations like this should be added to the censor program, because it defeats the purpose.

I am wholly for a CLEAN discussion, so I bring this to your attention. Hope it helps.
