I found a quote of mine in the "Independence Day YouthNoise Blowout" e-mail and was disappointed to find that I had not been given any credit and the quote was taken out of context... In the e-mail it said: Support the Children of Soldiers "I can only imagine what it must be like...what your parent is doing for our country and the people of the world." The original context was as follows: "I can only imagine what it must be like to be expected to live with such a sacrifice at such a young age. What your parent is doing for our country, and the people of the world, is something so noble, and yet it seems as though you are also expected to shoulder some of their responsibility." I don't really mind, I just wanted to bring it to someone's attention so that it will be fixed for future e-mails.

It's not meant to alter the text and like someday says, the three dots mean more text is there. The only reason a quote is shortened is because you need to keep the document a certain character length or it gets cut off. This quote should have been linked to your post. I haven't read it yet so I don't know if it was or not.
It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice.

Actually, it's not a good quote. It doesn't even make grammatical sense. Besides, Meagan's original statement had to do with living with a parent who is rarely there for you, while the abridged quote sounds more like it's hard for some to imagine what it's like to have a parent who's out saving the world. Two completely different meanings. In any case, credit would have been nice.

It's close enough to the actual intent of the message. Things are quoted like that all the time. "You learn about equality in the classroom but you find out about it in life" - Campus Confidential www.myspace.com/yogore

But it's taken out of context, and thats happened for many of mine as well in these e-mails, the people that put the e-mail together dont bother reading to figure out whats really going on, they just throw a quote up and call it good.

She still wasn't given credit for the quote though.

The quote is properly quoted actually. The dots in the middle mean that there is more text there, and you don't have to go all the way to the end.
