How many judges are there? And there is no jury, correct? He killed so many people...idk...its really a tough decision, but first he needs to be found guilty.

You ruin the country, you should at least kill the ruler.

You raise a good point, Blue. I hate the death penalty because I believe that people should be forced to live with the consequences that there actions warrent, but in some cases I worry about breakout, as irrational as that may seem. I don't worry about it for everyday criminals, but I could imagine Bin Laden's followers trying to resque him from jail, creating more casualties because we would not kill one person.

I'm not sure how I feel about the death penalty for Saddam.

I'm torn about Saddam. I have come to realize that I believe in the death penalty in the cases of people like Hitler and Osama Bin Laden. I think Saddam belongs in that list too.

Ironically, I believe that the death penalty is barbaric, but some people deserve to die in such barbaric ways. I'm not proud that I believe in the death penalty, but I do. When I first came to YN, I did not believe in the death penalty, but when my history teacher asked our if we would have supported the execution of Hitler, I had to say yes.

life term, i do not agree with the death sentance in any shape or form, it has no place in a modern civilised socity, and is purly barbaric.

Moreover, the Iraki judges have been appointed by the US government, whereas an international judgement would have been better. The problem is that many western countries did help Saddam in the 90's by providing him with chemical weapons and so on ans so forth... An international trial would have probably meant more people accused, including western leaders...
