do you think colleges look more at class rank now instead of your gpa?

quote: Why would an A in AP Bio be worth more than an A in CP bio?
Becuase AP Bio is a more difficult class. Colleges like to see students challenge themselves, even if that means getting a B in an AP class, opposed to getting an A in a CP class. quote: My school didn't even have AP.
Colleges also look at the classes that your schools offers. You won't be penalized for not taking APs. quote: I don't get why people are so obsessed with Ivy Leagues for undergrad.
In the 1960s-1970s if you didn't go to Harvard, Yale, or Princeton, you were recieving a second-rate education. Today, there are many schools that offer a comparable if not better education than the Ivy leagues.

Why would an A in AP Bio be worth more than an A in CP bio? My school didn't even have AP. And only four classes were offered as CP. If you needed to be skipped ahead in math they just skipped you, no special classes. Arizona (at least NAU) will admit you if you rank high in your class or if you have a high enough SAT score (or, i think, if you have a high enough GPA). Makes it easy. I don't get why people are so obsessed with Ivy Leagues for undergrad. Just go to any school with a good reputation, do really well and save your cash for later. You can work your way up too, you know.

My feeling is, you're not really prepared to take the class unless you can handle it with everytyhing else you have to do. I have no idea what my class rank is. i should check. mass Academy won't do class rank so I should check my current school's. I'm 3rd. Have always been third. Damn math, if it wasn't for that I'd be first. Class-by-class rank: English - 1st Math, General - 3rd Spanish - 1st Science - 3rd History - 1st Art - 1st Literature - 1st Grammar, English - 1st Grammar, Spanish - 1st General linguistics - 1st Algebra - 4th Geometry - 2nd Portfolio (long story on what this is) - 1st Computer - 2nd because I got a B+ on the Excell test. Yeah, we do it class-by-class here. And yes, I am a school nerd.

Colleges will look at the difficulty of your classes. However, the top colleges expect you to maintain top grades in multiple, rigorous classes.

what id like to know is whether they look at all the tiny quirks and details..
i, as a fish, am taking on honors precal (a junior/ senior course), which requires a lot of focus and attention in my case.. Because of this, it drains my focus from other subjects. obviously it affects my achievement in other classes, dropping my gpa and class rank.
id think it unfair if colleges failed to recognize this. x( If i were to follow the path of a regular fish, id be succeeding greatly, without a doubt.
i realize that i set myself up for a challenge by jumping so far ahead, but i dont think this should put me out of the game.
So, anyone know if the colleges recognize this?

How do you know? What are your grades like? It is extremely hard to be accpeted into Harvard, however, there are many other excellent schools out there with a comparable and possibly better education.

It depends...like in Florida colleges, if you are in the top 10% (or around there) of your class, then they have to automatically accept you. But all colleges are different...

Often, colleges reconfigure your GPA based on the classes that you take. An "A" in AP Bio is worth a lot more than an "A" in CP Bio.
