Yes, it is ****y. The government takes a portion of any large cash prize you win though. When Oprah gave away all those cars? The people who won had to pay large amounts of taxes on them. Shows like Price is Right and Who Want's to be a Millionair. You have to pay taxes on prizes, and the government takes part of the prize money.
