I'd like to refer you all (especially brooke and Baber) to this site. Click on the link that says "Founding Fathers" and all your questions will be answered regarding the exact "faith" of this country.

Umm, first amendment perhaps? Ever heard of it? Brooke, this is a secular country, by definition.

[COLOR:RED]okay where do i begin?... ahhh yes Christiananity is wut this country was fouunded on. just like any other country, we have a dominant religion we go by n i think its totally stupid that we dont even say the pledge in most public schools just b'cas it mentions the word "god".... omg ppl we have different ethnic groups that came to this country for reasons well in my opinion they need to ]accept our way of life b'cas moving over to this country is devoting yourself to U.S ways. and for those who r not christians believe it or not r the ones who r not complaining... its the atheiest who r ticked but i say to them oh well

I think a moment of silence is pleanty. You can't force someone to pray, literally and figuratively.

That's funny. I go to church but don't believe in God. Well, not as the Christians believe in God, that is.

they would not force you to say a pledge. I am against having prayer time at school too. But do you know that it is not just christians that want this? it is also muslims, they had a special about it on the news a bunch of muslims want their kids to be able to bring their rugs to school because they have to pray three times a day.

i dont think schools should be allowed to hold a prayer in mornings, i go to a multiculture school, and that doesnt just mean christians and aithiests, that means jewish people, muslims, catholic, you get the idea. so surely holding a mass prayer can go against quite a lot of the faiths and cultures, please correct me if i am wrong..i am strongly against christianity so if my school do a prayer they will have to hold me at gun point befor i take part, and even then i will put up a fight

i just think that god should stay on our money and in the pledge. I dont really see why it is such a big deal. I dont see how this became such a big issue. oh and about my religion, i beleive in god but i dont go to chruch.

Very much so. Anyway, I find it odd that before a road race they say a Christian prayer, however no one objects. pantera: Just out of curiousity, how can you say that God should remain part of the government when you aren't Christian? Like liberalhugger said, Islamic terrorists can kill more people, but Christian conservatives can tear apart this country. Freedom of religion is good, but they don't have to shove it down our throats.

Okay, are you saying that black people should accept segregation because America is a "white" country? This country was founded to protect minorities. The Pilgrims came here to escape religious persecution. Minorities don't have to "accept" any type of discrimination. They are allowed to protest. If you want a "united" country, then you should care if fellow citizens are offended. Well if you think about it by changing what the majority of americans think is right just to please a small minority you are not promoting unity. You are trading the happiness of the majority for the happiness of a few. ---Sadly, they have and failed.---- the day that god gets taken out of america is the day this country goes strait down the crapper. I am not even a christian, i dont go to church and i dont know enough about jesus to beleive in him. I just think that we should keep god in our society. Is it that big of a deal?

go to private school if you want to play in school or you can pray before or after school. I think I would feel uncomfortable saying another person's prayer...I play to myself, it works just as well.

on the subject of prayer, all the christian prayers at the two memorial day parades I had to march in today were really annoying and could be offensive to the nonchistian community members.
