Right because everyone would rather see it as a tragety instead of taking a look at the real problems the US is facing. Yes it's sad, but necessary... the fact that people overlook poor parenting, and the criminal nature of teenagers is beyond my comprehension... no one wants to take the hard line because it's not popular... The kid getting shot is the end result of numourus fuck ups by the parents and society on the whole.

Hydrok, I don't care about this boy's "issues". I just think it's sad that he's dead and that he had to die in such a away.

I get the feeling that this whole deal was a convulted "suicide by cop" on the part of the kid

Well where was mommy and daddy when this kid was growing up... I keep hearing conflicting stories in the news... the friend said that the boy wanted to kill himself, but another says the kid was friends with everyone, and another says he was bullied, and the parents say "we dont know what got into him" the kid has run away from home before, and the dad somehow knew he had a pellet gun... see where I'm going with this?

I have a more moderate stance on the issue. Yes, I think it is tragic and unfortunate that the boy was killed. However, the SWAT team cannot be faulted. The boy had ample opportunities to surrender, but he did not. Although the SWAT team was informed that the gun was fake, they had no real way of verifying that information. It was there job to protect the school and themselves. Generally when someone points a gun at a SWAT team, the SWAT team fires back. Self-Defense.

The point here is that quite simply... it doesn't really matter if the gun is real or not... the overall fault doesn't lie with the SWAT team for the death of this kid... because someone had to make a decision that this kid was dangerous enough to call a swat team in the first place... If they thought is was just a pellet gun why didn't a teacher or a principal or some one like that just walk up and knock the little kid out? But here's the deal Celtic, it doesn't matter what he's got in his hand he pointed it at a SWAT team... he was going to get shot. Actually in reality I'm amazed at the self control they had to only shoot once, doctrine for both police and military is if someone points a weapon at you, it is your job to shoot them until either your out of bullets or the threat is on the ground and incapacitated. The trainier I had for M-16 qualifying told me that the rule of one shot one kill doesn't apply when your in danger... you unload that thing into the threat. So please dont try to place blame on the SWAT team...

What I don't understand is why the fuck they shoot this guy, and yet when they meet a serial killer, they wait for his trial to kill him, and probably just give him a life sentence.

I agree the boy was a fool to do this and deserved what he got if that had been a real gun, if he had killed innocents this guy should have known better

Why do American authorities always shoot when they don't have to? At least investigate whether the gun was real. And fuck, he was tormented. Trust me, when you're extremely bullied and no one does anything on it, bringing a gun to school seems like a wonderful option. But he aimed at a deputy...which is different....
