The following quotes are from an article written by By ERIC WILKINSON / KING 5 News The schools in Puyallup have sent letters home with kids saying there will "be 'no observance'" of Halloween in their schools. quote: Puyallup school officials say the decision to cancel Halloween celebrations is a permanent one and students who wear costumes to school will be asked to take them off or leave.
Apparently, the school had gotten complaints from Witches (Wiccans) who were offended by the portrayal of Witches. quote: School officials add Wiccans weren't the only ones who complained about Halloween. Some Christian groups complained about the glamorization of the occult.
Being a Wiccan, I do not feel offended by the representation of Witches during Halloween. I put little Witch figureens around my house for Halloween. Students in Puyallup are protesting the district's decisoin, standing on the sidewalk in costumes or shirts saying "Happy Halloween." Do you think dressing up and decorating for Halloween is offensive to Witches? Is it a "glamorization of the occult?" Or is it just a fun excuse to dress up and get free candy?

Halloween used to be banned in ALL schools in PR. Which I found odd, considering Witchcraft was hugely practiced.

Halloween shouldn't be taken that seriously. I mean, it is just a day were kids get to dress up, have fun, and get candy. What's the big deal?
I have not yet reached my goal, and I am not perfect. But Christ has taken hold of me. So I keep on running and struggling to take hold of the prize. My friends, I don't feel that I have already arrived. But I forget what is behind, and I struggle for wha

I'm glad that my school hasn't banned dressing up for Halloween. I don't think it's offensive to Witches; Halloween is just for fun!

They banned halloween at my school too. we were allowed to dress up, but it was called: A HARVEST FESTIVAL COSTUME CONTEST. BS or what. I am sorry, but it's just stupid that because a holiday is politically incorrect to them, we are not allowed to recognize it. Laters~~~
Hope for the best and expect the worst............take whatever life throws at you...

It is just a fun way to dress up and get candy that has been going on for many years. I don't think that there is anything wrong with it. Many Wiccans have said it doesn't offend them either. But either way, I don't think it really makes a big difference whether or not it is allowed in schools. The children will still have plenty of time to be trick-or-treating on Halloween.

At times, I believe some people are just TOO politically correct.
