Many prominent US universities are calling for divestment of funds from anything backing Israel, citing human rights abuses and Israeli military actions as evidence of an apartheid like system that should not recieve support from the US govt., let alone academic institutions. The anti-defamation league calls this movement "anti-semitic" in that not supporting israel shows an underlying hatred of the jewish people. Many of us right now are supporting Israel whether or not we are aware of it. Should we divest or would doing so be anti-semitic?

Many universities have a new trend in enrollment, there is a large population of Palestinians and Muslims enrolling in college. These students start Palestinian groups against Israel and supporters of Israel. In one instance, a Palestinean group at SFSU attacked a group of Conservative students during an election rally. The Conservative group were out numbered and bewildered why such a group would have such contempt for them.

I've mixed feelings. I think it is anti-semitic in a way, but I also believe any country should try to fix its own problems. With human right violations, Israel isn't doing so.
