Recently there have been a lot of incidents of police cruelty and brutality, as there has always been in the past, but in the last decade or so the level has skyrocketed. Incidents like the unarmed black man murdered in the BART Station in Oakland by a white cop, and the two Fresno cops repeatedly punching a semi-restrained homeless man in the face. Oakland- {http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIVI2G_XAjQ&feature=related} Fresno- {http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q15h0AEPdWk} I'm not completely sure of my opinions when it comes to these things so I thought I could just participate in some senseless arguing about it weed out the dumb ideas in the process. My opinion so far: 1st- The people involved are at the very least suspected of a crime. (I hope) 2nd- The police are supposed to protect and serve. They are supposed to be model citizens. 3rd- In both incidences I cited, the victim/suspect is struggling at least a little bit. -In the Oakland case- he shouldn't have been, but by the time he was shot he was completely subdued, a cop was kneeling on his neck. -In the Fresno case- The homeless man was struggling, but I know I'd struggle if some a-hole was punching me in the face over and over. 4th- Extenuating Circumstances: -In the Oakland case the officer reportedly thought he had drawn his stun gun, I don't know what I believe here but, he does look pretty damn surprised when the gun goes off. -In the Fresno case I don't care if the man was struggling, I don't think the police handbook ever outlines subdueing a criminal by punching them. I don't know if the homeless man would've liked it any better, but the cop must've had a taser on him or something. [I don't think he mistook his fist for the stun gun. (morbid humor)] What do you think? Were the cops out of line? Were the victim/suspects to blame?

lol. you're funny. Should we do anything about the human inaccuracies in law enforcement -ie prejudic cops, corrupt cops or should we do nothing because as you say 'they are just humans.'

I suggest you try a little harder to focus when reading my posts. Getting kinda sick of repeating myself.... quote: Again, they're human. They are not inerrant.

Again, they're human. They are not inerrant. I tend to put myself in their shoes in situations like that. How on Earth would they know that he's not leading them somewhere where they could be killed? How do they know he's not driving home so he can get his gun? They don't. It is NOT a policeman's job to take chances. Better to be inconvenienced by your car getting towed, than to scare the cops. Buses and taxis do exist and whatnot....

I watch the show cops... I've seen a few instances on there where the cops were douchebags. ex- there was a guy they were trying to pull over. he kept driving and following the laws of the road (except for not pulling over). he finally stops in a driveway and gets out and puts his hands on his head. They arrest him. they asked him why he didn't pull over. he said 'i have outstanding warrants. if i had stopped away from my house you would have towed my car then my daughter wouldn't be able to get to work tomorrow.' The cop tells him, 'we would have taken it to your house, now you ran from us for no reason.' Then after the guy is in the car, that same cop who said they would NOT have towed the car said 'oh we would have had to tow the car.' I was like, wow, see why this guy didn't stop until he got to his house. I've met a lot of really nice cops and I have also met a lot of douche bag cops. I'm sure that there are some who join just for the power. And I'm sure there are others who let their authority go to their heads.

I've never had a bad experience with cops. So, excuse me if I seem a little biased, but I don't think MOST cops are bad people. I think they're human, and some have a hard time controlling their emotions. Should those cops be fired? Of course. But I'm not going to sit around, shaking in my boots, assuming most cops are out to get me because of a few unfortunate incidences. Everyone is shit. Everyone.

When rights are taken from families ' Given to the magic police that can see everything be everywhere at once and then judge you ' This topic will not go away' That is what has happened we give all our god given rights to these people. who go around like cat's sneaking everywhere' looking for anything out of place anywhere policing, everything even other countries, this topic will blow up in our faces' It seems that the problem is visible in other countries' Like France , law's that you cannot even see' Invisible barriers Something the law makers have dune. Our nation covered by laws' It is the good man that only can control the bad' Within the ranks of a family' Here it is against the law to even protect yourself' Outside of your home' How then can the bad loose' If the good are not allowed to control them" I am a witness of the things that happen in America we are a model for all countries and we have been failing to see that good can only win if the cuff's are taken off.
