'Tis true. Apparently the man died yesterday from injuries he got from a fall weeks ago. I've personally never read any of his stuff, but I've heard his name mentioned quite a few times on this site and I'm surprised no one's mentioned anything yet (although perhaps no one's heard yet). Well, here's a link to the story. I only found out by coming across his article on Wikipedia, which told me it was about a "recently deceased person." Surprised me, although not as much as seeing he was already 84. He sounded like the kind of guy I'd have liked to meet...

It's hard to believe he'll never have another book.

He wasn't going to write any more novels even if he was alive. He stopped writing fiction in 1997. After that he only wrote essays.

I don't know why I never saw this thread before.

It's sort of sad he is gone. So it goes.

OMG! I loved Kurt Vonnegut's books... he even had a myspace blog I was reading. It's hard to believe he'll never have another book. I'm just glad he was able to be famous in his lifetime.

Did anyone ever see him on the Daily Show? He was great!

RIP Kurt Vonnegut...

XOXOXO,
Jen Smile

P.S. If you haven't heard of him, I'd suggest reading "Breakfast of Champions" or "Slapstick" ... they're genius!

He was a great writer. I've read a few of his books and absolutely loved them, and I plan to read everything else by him I can get my hands on.

May he rest in peace.

And then, as the books were told, Fina replied: "A can of worms, my dear friend? What has this to do with reason?"

Google is your friend. Anyway, in my opinion, he is one the greatest writers of our time.

Kurt who?

And I would never feel pain / and never be without pleasure, ever, again / and if the reign stops, and everything's dry, he would cry just so I could drink the tears from his eyes...
