As an avid music listener, this is something I'm always confronted with. I know there was a group called Mothers Against Hard Rock who wanted to ban bands like MCR and The Used because they were innapropiate. Should this be able to happen? Doesnt this violate free speech? I know Eminem was brought to court because his music 'influnced a man to shoot someone else' I think thats redic.

The task of keeping the minds of the children safe should lie with, and ONLY with, that particular child's parents. Groups like the PMRC and Mothers Against Hard Rock, are an insult to all parents all across America! They formed based on the assumption that their parenting skills are better than anyone else's and they know how to raise your kids better than you do. Censorship in general is completely unconstitutional and any effort to censor creative works should be illegal. A mother telling her child not to read a certain book, listen to certain CDs, or play certain video games is completely fine; but a mother telling every child in America what they can or cannot listen to, play, or read is ridiculous. That's unconstitutional, rude, and frankly idiotic.

Censorship of any kind is stupid and is in direct violation of our rights. Saying that music influences people to do things may to true to a degree, just like with video games or books. But that is no reason to ban it. If parents have problems with the music, they should push for music ratings (E for everyone or PG-13, for example), not censorship.
It could be worse.

I think censorship is violating freedom of speech. However, I think censoring music on the radio is alright. Its annoying but I know that people of all ages listen and parents dont want young kids to hear it. But if it were up to me I would ban it because we all know about sex, drugs, and violence so why edit it, if we all know about it??

Most teenagers dont even understand what they listen to half the time. even though there has been research done that supports this they still want to censor and get rid of certain types of music. PMRC you suck.

censorship of music is uncool, but so is bad music. kids should be taught to decide if the music is something to take seriously or something just for entertainment.

If only CDs had some sort of advisory for parents that perhaps warned of explicit content.

Maybe music should have restrictions like movies do. If it's "R" rated, you can't buy it until you are a certain age ect. You can't really take a musician to court though because of what someone else did. That is stupid.

i think music should be censored. My popstar friend maggie says that it should be too. She's really good and you should look for her new CD.

censor your self it's a simple as that, you control what you listen to and see and what your children listen to and see so take some damn control and stop bothering everyone else
