The problem is that the American education system does not involve a course on finance/budgeting. I think it's important for young people to learn at an early age about the benefits of investing in stocks, mutual funds, CDs, 401ks, and the dangers of overspending on credit, etc. With a better knowledge of how to handle money, Americans would be able to save more.
I agree that better education w/ economics would help but what about those who dont have access to that type of education? Without incomes, older people have to depend on Social Security.

Do i think that we will have SS? no way, unless something is figured out and quick. We should all put our quarters in a coffee can. We will need it when we are 65.

Ditto. And I'm already out 300 dollars this year alone. Seiously, at todays standards, I'm not going to be collecting untill 2050 at the very least. I'm almost certain the collection age will go up by then. I am not betting anything on Social Security, and people who do are fools.

We need to be worried. I believe he made a statement in a press conference about his SS plan, and he said something about how he may not be able to recieve Social Security when he retires. He's worried if he'll receive it in the next ten years, what about everyone else?
