This is my first post here, so first off Id like to say What's up. It pisses me off that there seems to be no Bipartisanship in the media. No, Im not niave enough to think all bias on TV will just go away, but I wish the networks would have some respect for our intelligence and at least announce their veiwpoint instead of pretending to provide balanced news while slipping in party propoganda. So do you think unbiased journalism is possible?

Well N.P.R. (National Public Radio) isn't biased the news may sound very liberal compared to other news but thats partly because its not biased, and mostly because it says the truth. Its really hard to find a place where you can get news that isn't biased because after a period of time theres more and more ways for it to become biased. For example a sponsor has something it doesn't want known publicly so it tells whoever its sponsoring not to release a story, now the CEO or whoever runs the media company decides that they will choose the lesser of the to evils: survive to report another day! But little by little it grows they need more money someones bribed etc etc after awhile a media group for the people turns against it. A good way to counter this is to make it non-profit get a government grant or receive donations from average people who want unbiased news.

I doubt that it's really possible, after all, whether or not the reporter/journalist is allowed to voice their opinion that doesn't mean that it's not present.
Of course there are several sources that are more reliable than others. Fox news for one is notorious biases. Thankfully there's still some distinction between an opinion based piece and a news based piece, and I'd rather know what's going on that not. However, it is a pain to listen to someone whose opinion is affecting the news quality.
Though I can't say I wouldn't be biased if I was the one reporting.

I've long since given up on the media to start delivering unbiased news. The solution is to simply explore various sources. If you explore different points of view, you'll be able to formulate your own. Unfortunately, it's not possible to be completely unbiased when reporting about issues. Bias is a journalist's world view, and you can't take that away from them no matter how much you try to keep it "fair and balanced". A guy who's seen the terror of war with his own eyes will tell the truth with his coverage because no matter how much he tries to ignore the brutalities he's seen, they will always find a way to reach the surface. So no, there's no such thing as unbiased reporting. We need only trust that people will be more open-minded about issues so we can create an atmosphere where everyone's opinion counts.

I agree with what everyone here is saying, and I think that is why its important to get your information from several different sources, ones that you know will have viewpoints that represent different sides to an issue or event. Even if you tend to agree more with a conservative view, make it a point to seek out the liberal side too, that way you can get a more in-depth look at what you're reading about.

depends most people have an opinion and even though its hard to put that aside when writing a story it is their responsibility as journalists to do so.

everyone has values and beliefs, so no i don't think there could be any unbias journalists. it is just unhuman like not to have opinons. Some people may say that a good journalist is unbias, but look closely at some of their articles, I bet you could find some biases.

no it is not. unless your there, or two different pieces have both sides, you'll only get one side of a story... So no.

No. Even if stories are given in a bipartisan way (which they can't really...you can pretty much always read someone's political leanings just in the way that they present things), what they choose to highlight shows their bias. It's impossible. You just have to know what the bias is, and then you can live through it.
Just because nobody understands you, that doesn't mean you're artistic.
