I have been keeping up with the issue but i didnt want to post something because i didnt have enough info.
Based on what i do know, i dont really believe Pakistan is behind it. If anything at least not the government, maybe some extremists from the Pakistan or Kashmir region. The reason so is because the attacks seemed to have targeted foreigners and tourist sites, although many Indians were harmed and killed in the process, and it would be foolish for Pakistan to associate itself with such an attack yet alone be behind it. Pakistan would loose all its political and economic support, and certainly punishment, in one form or another, would be carried out. Anybody who was able to plan an attack of this magnitude would surely see this.
Secondly, the conflict between India and Pakistan is mainly a conflict between Hindus and Muslims, the Jewish people are not involved therefore the attack on the Jewish center cannot be justified as a by-product of this conflict. The attack on the Jewish people is clearly an attack by extremists.
Lastly, the attackers of the Taj hotel were reported to be young. One Irish hostage said they were mere "kids". If Pakistan was behind the attack i doubt they would send kids. This looks more and more like the attacks of extremists.
I'm not ruling Pakistan completely out because i dont know all the facts, but I'm pretty darn sure they did not support the attack, at least not directly.
Its seems to me that the attack was carried out to create more tension between the two nations. Also I believe the goal of the attack was to transform India into a hostile zone for foriegners therefore set a distance between India and the foreign nations. In a sense, India would be looked down upon because it could not protect citizens of other nations. If so, I believe the goal back-fired because the Indian security forces dealt with the situation strongly and effectively and by so proving themselves. Also by harming foriegners, the west, and rest of the world, can relate to and empathize with India and the Indian people.
My prayers go out to all those who were killed in the horrific and inhuman attack, and to their families.
More and more evidence of how far terrorism has reached.
