I think I saw on of those videos when they were graving the chickens and hitting them against the wall as well as stepping on them and hitting them with sticks. It was horrible.

I'm a member of the street team at www.peta2.com ! I'm Slewinca xracer on the boards BTW. Free Me is a sad video, look for the Chew On This video there too. But I think the best video depicting farmed animal cruelty is Meet Your Meat. (Chew On This is a close second though) www.meetyourmeat.comMcDonald's has changed their animal welfare policies for the better, much higher than the national standard. Get more info here: www.mccruelty.com quote: It is not just KFC and McDonalds, it is the entire food industry. Exactly. Like Paul McCartney said, If slaughterhouses had glass walls, we would all be vegetarian.

By the way if you go to PETA2.com, scroll all the way to the bottom and you should see a link that says watch the "Free Me" video. That gives you an idea of what goes on in the meat industry and if you thought the throat slitting was mild you will see why it upset me in this video so yes it does contain possibly objectionable scenes. View at your own risk you've been warned.

I know, it's so horrible. I saw part of the video on the news a while ago and it was really shocking. I just kept saying "Oh my God..." after seeing them throw the chickens and stomp on them. My family has chickens (not to eat or lay eggs mind you) and we've raised a few chicks and knowing how they really are just made the abuse all the more horrifying. quote: I'm sorry...but in my opinion, it's utterly pointless to treat chickens better. It's a waste of time, money, and effort to try and protect something that will eventually be our dinner.
I'll bet someone in Korea is saying that about the dogs and cats who are abused and slaughtered every year as well. Over there dogs are deliberately beaten before they are slaughtered, because they think it makes the meat better. These are not plants we're talking about here, these are living, breathing, feeling creatures who feel pain just as much as we do. Read this. And click here and here more more on the crueltys of chicken and turkey farming (including the abuse of slaughterhouse workers in the industry). And I know the chicken won't be my dinner anyway. To understand the reasoning and philosophy behind animal rights, I recommend that you read Animal Liberation by Peter Singer. It was the book that started the modern animal rights movement. Try looking for it at your library. I have included the website about KFC's cruelty to chickens in my signature.

I think it is horrible, but I have been vegetarian for years now, so avoid KFC anyways. finn620- Taco Bell treats it's tomato pickers quite poorly. They have been asking for 1 cent more for pound of tomatos they pick, and Taco Bell has denied. If you are going to boycott Taco Bell based on KFC however, you should know that Pizza Hut is also a partner.

while we're on the subject of boycotting, if anyone else here plans to, you'll probably want to avoid taco bell as well because they have ties to KFC. plus, taco bell has human rights abuses for using sweatshop style labor in the fields where their tomatoes and lettuce is grown.

yeah, i heard about this somewhere, only the details i heard about were much worse. at one point, the people working at the chicken factory were throwing live chickens against a wall and a supervisor came in and said "hold your fire". then he told them to carry on after he passed through.i also heard about some other really sick stuff going on at the farms KFC buys from. the only thing i can think of to do about it is boycott KFC.

Chocolate I don't eat meat so I don't have to think about what I am doing when I am cooking it. I don't =). It is just as much a waste of time to treat them worse. These people go out of their way to do harm to these animals. What's the point in treating them badly in the first place? Just because they are lower on the food chain means we should torture them (humans and domestic cats are the only ones that play with prey before they kill it by the way). I just don't see what point there is in going out of your way to hurt the chicken when it never did anything to anyone else ever.

K... i know that is wrong and such but think about what you are doing as you eat this animal! Think about what you are doing as you cook this animal! Think of what had to happen for your pleasure...meaning thsomeone HAD to kill the animal.

That's horrible!!! Honestly, I knew before that the chicken-raising industry was bad, but not that bad. I think that that is certainly unessesarily cruel. There are laws against animal cruelty, why are these practices still being allowed? As for cows, I have slightly less strong feeling about that subject. I think it is very cruel the way cows are treated also. But at least slitting an animals throat is a quick way to die, and there is no prolonged suffering. Also, the cows are delivered a hard blow to the temple with a pressure gun before being killed (still cruel, but at least they are unconscious). I recomend the book "Fast Food Nation" for anybody interested in the cow and chicken industries.
