In Wisconsin recently, a case was brought before court in which three men were charged with digging up a grave of a twenty year old female who had been killed the previous week. The men confessed they had dug up the grave in order to have sex with the corpse. However, the court dropped the sexual assault charges brought up against the men because, in the state of Wisconsin, necrophilia is not illegal.

Source

So what are everybody's thoughts on this? Should Necrophilia be illegal? Why or why not? Is necrophilia disrespectful to the family of the corpse and the corpse itself? Should the men have been charged with sexual assault? And how would you feel if the corpse was someone you knew?

I think you have taken this no morality thing far too.. Far. If one doesn't have morals in all areas of life, even politics, then all areas of their life would be simply out-of-control. Morals are necessary in order to keep things running well.

Anyhow, I think it should be a crime. The human corpse- "object"- was once somebody's daughter, friend, girlfriend, whatever. It is extremely disrespectful to exhume a body and have your way with it- it'd be an extreme slap to the face if ever that happened to anyone I cared about.

Not to mention it's just so perverse, so twisted!

The dead have more rights than stuffed animals and blow-up dolls.

i find the most horrific part of this story is that it was the body of a 12 year old girl...who was killed...i believe it should be illegal...because would you like the cops coming to your house and saying "you dead grandma was just raped..." i just don't see how anyone can find a positive moral standpoint on this issue

I personally do think it is a distgusting act. However, I'm not sure that I could say it is immoral. As was pinted out earlier, they don't choose to have this urge. I'm just not sure there is a way to do it without being disrespectful.

i dont think that is true, about it not being illegal, because jeffery dahmer was charged with necrophillia.

Are you sure? In the source I posted, there is the line "Wisconsin has no law against necrophilia, an appeals court ruled Thursday." Also, though Dahmer did commit acts of Necrophilia, along with cannibalism, I don't think he was charged with either, especially since murder trumps both. (The only source I have on this is Wikipedia.)

I agree that if there are laws made against necrophilia that it'd be because of desecration, looting, invasion of property, etc., not because it's "stupid" or "gross." That's just how some people are.

I can only imagine what it must feel like for the ones doing the violating.

Confessions of a Necrophile - the true story of a man that could just not give up his love for dead bodies.

I mean seriously though, with paraphilia, it chooses the person, the person does not choose the paraphilia. It must suck to be a person that is a necrophile and fully hate what they are attracted to.

I like these calm little moments before the storm.

You can always tell if a post has been edited by a mod because it will always show an edit tag at the end. The poster has 10 minutes after posting to edit their own posts. There was one post removed for a rules of play violation and it was not posted by SilverWerewolf.

It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice.

Interesting how the Satanist comment was removed, Silver.

Wait a minute. How did you know I wrote something like that when it was never posted?

If you want to stick parts of your body into rotting flesh, I won't stop you.

Indeed, without consent it would be considered rape, but then again, the corpse can't give consent, can it?

Whoa. I didn't know that about you, clpo13.

Although, I'm sure you wouldn't want someone digging up a dead relative of yours and having sex with them, now would you?

I'm glad we can make laws against things that are sick and gross simply because they're sick and gross.....oh wait, that's not how anything works.

Desecration of a grave, stealing/destruction of property, trespassing, vandalism, and/or sexual indeceny should cover most crimes of necrophilia.

So then would it follow through that it is rape, because no consent was given, or that it was not, because consent was not possible?

That would depend on different individuals, I suppose. A prosecutor would use the former, while a defense lawyer would use the latter.
