Truth be told I don't know why people are acting like this is a large sum of money when we have spent 8 trillion dollars on the war. The 700 bill. will hopefully save our economy while the 8 trillion will do what... help us win a war that will bring us no revenue? I don't know. I just wish Americans thought more about these things we have gotten ourselves into.

No matter what, money is money. First the American people wanted to spend money they didn't have. Then the banks decided it was okay to spend money they didn't have on the people. Now the government is paying to stabilize the problem. By the people, for the people, of the people..... What did you expect? The only way to seriously change the issue now is to cut spending from other areas, or increase taxes. Which would you prefer, seriously?

Unfortunatly, those in power do not like change. A green shift in Canada was rejected, and if that's reality, the United States will be next to impossible to implement such a change.

couple hundred? beeatch my check was 800 dollars!! wahoooo. But seriously, I don't know if the economy would be saved if we just gave the tax payers money, it would be nice but I think we should focus on alternative fuels. Think about it, how much money does every corporation, business, town and person have to spend on transporting things like food, clothing, furniture, electronics, etc. We use SOOOO much oil that it would just be cheaper in the long run if everyone went green.

I'm talking about the 700 billion dollars though. If the government evenly distributed that amount of money to the tax payers, the couple hundred in the stimulus package would be uncomparable.

Like many other American's I think that money should be given to the tax payers. Many would go and buy with the extra money which would help our economy. Others who are in debt would hopefully use the money to pay off bills like which could help with the housing crisis.

We had this conversation in my econ class today...the buyout, if it passed, would have added about $2000 to each American's tax bill. Food for Thought.
