He did NOT compare the 9/11 victims to Nazis, he compared the World Trade Center Technicians to someone who helped organize the genocide by the Nazis. Churchill lacks any real citation in his sourse. Take a look at this site if you want proof <http://hal.lamar.edu/~browntf/> he constantly contradicts what he cites and just plain out lies about what he sites. This does not hold true to his essay about 9/11 because he doesn't even use any citation in that essay. When ever he does not contradict a source he is usually citing someone like Chomsky who rarely uses citations himself.

Ward Churchill is out of his mind. Let us start with that he is not a true Indian. I cannot believe that people will agree to his anti-American rhetoric. Second, how can you believe a person who does not cite critical pieces in his work? Moreover, when he cites if you trace those used they often contradict what he is saying. His information is not backed up by viable sources; this is when he uses sources. They often are people who are very radical in there views. I personally feel that this mans speech is degrading the great county that we live in. I for one am proud of the actions to help fight terrorism and defend our nation. I am proud to be a technocrat.

You know what might make this thread more meaningful? Information on who Ward Churchill is and what exactly he said. "Mortoriuos Nazis" is vague. Especially since mortorious isn't a word. Perhaps you mean murderous? But that doesn't make sense. Victims of 9/11 were linked to murderous Nazis? Elaborate and I will comment.

I was baffled that Churchill did not attend a press conference that he had called on Feb 1st. If you are going to make absurd statements do not hide behind your supporters – stand up and defend your statement.

Ward Churchill and his supporters are hiding behind the first amendment when anyone calls to questions his comments in regards to his comments about the 9/11 victims. To me this is interesting because Churchill has prevented the Columbus Day parade in Denver and claimed it was his first amendment right to do so. The problem is that while he was exercising his first amendment right he prevented others from exercising their first amendment right. This smacks of hypocrisy. Does Churchill believe that his first amendment right is more important than those who celebrate Columbus Day? If this is not enough to prove to you that Churchill has a distorted view on the first amendment consider this – the only way his first amendment right would be violated is if he met federal prosecution for what he said – which is not happening. The first amendment right does not apply to prevent any institution from firing you from what you say. If Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld said the same thing we would be fired and no court would hear his case that his firing violated his first amendment right.

As a student, I feel the above is not of great of importance. The real issue here is holding students and teachers to the same standards. If I were to say, which I do not believe and would never say, ‘the Palestinians in Israel deserve to be killed because they are on Israeli land,’ my expulsion hearing would last about 30 seconds before I was expelled. I deem that just as offensive as what Ward Churchill said – so why would he be treated any differently than me? Are only people with radical liberal ideas protected by the university while conservatives are forced to pay the price for any statement they make that runs contrary to a liberal professor? Are professors deemed immune from any kind of accountability for what they say while I must not put forth my conservative views in class for fear that I will be failed?

On a final note I do not believe this is an issue of ethnicity. Some will have us believe that what Churchill is going trough is the result of him being Native America. Give me a break people – this issue is holding people accountable for what they say not what color their skin is. Please stop trying to dilute the issue. I bring this up because the claim that is a race matter is peppered in our local newspaper.

Bottom line - this man a sleeze and shouldn't not be paid by tax payers and should not be allowed to teach students.
