I recently went to the hospital and saw how miserable people are there (and its not just the morphine!) My friend once planned to go and hang out with poeple but never got around to it. I dare ssomeone to buy a gift and visit a random person in a hospital. Imagine sitting all day doing nothing. If you visit you can help them heal emotionally. Go on, I dare you to care for once. I've read a lot of posts from people who could care less. I dare you. LOL.

Well, I'm doing a project that send letters to kids in hospitals. It really warms the parents' hearts and mine as well... Check out Make A Child Smile and see what WON'T move you. Smile
Keep cool.

My friend and I went to visit kids in a mental hospital a few times. We felt they got less attention than kids with say, cancer.

I work two whole, long days in the hospital every week. I know what you mean about bored people. Although a word to the wise - be careful how you word things b/c (understandably) people in the hospital can be very grumpy.

My father works in the hospital. I spent a grand part of my childhood visiting hospitals. I don't go there anymore though. I like visiting mental patients better. Insane people are usually geniuses. It's weird.

This is a really good idea but what about their family members? I don't want to go and try to visit when they have family that comes in all the time. It would be like intruding. However, I think that going to a nursing home to visit the elderly would be truly rewarding to both parties. You can learn so much from talking with them and they can lern alot from talking with you and they (for the most part) enjoy the company. If it's anything I learned from visiting nursing homes is that the elderly love to feel helpful and useful. They like to help with things, it makes them feel young and useful again. I highly reccomend visiting with them. It is truly amazing. Smile

When you walk through hospitals it's sad to see hurt and injured and sick people laying there helplessly and in pain. Some of those people don't even get visitors, how sad is that. Your company will be greatly appreciated and might even brighten their day.
