The Young Independent ….. ¡Express Yourself!

Join a team of young writers devoted to voicing the youth perspective on the goings on of modern day society. “The Young Independent” is a web-zine of the youth, for the youth, and by the youth. Together, we can make a difference in our future.

If you are interested, send a 250-word essay on one of the following:
1. Why you want to write for “The Young Independent”
2. The importance of youth activism in today’s society
3. A global youth struggle, and why its solution is important to you

Send your submission to:
The Young Independent
5400 west 99th terrace
Overland Park, Kansas 66207

Or:

editor@youngindie.com

You will be judged off of the style, grammar, structure, and word choice of your essay. Those applicants whose essays are found suitable will be contacted. Entry is not binding, and not all of those contacted will be given positions on the writing staff.
If you are chosen as a writer or editor, you will become a member of a team of youths whose mission is to stake our claim in the future. We will publish an issue a month, and you will be asked to contribute a small quantity of high-quality pieces. We are looking for twenty-one high school students. Seven will be chosen as editors, fourteen as staff writers.

Good luck,
Editor-In-Chief, Isaac Wilder
