I think that DeviantArt is a great site - there is some amazing stuff there. I also have a friend who posts on it (mostly manga-ish, which sadly most people here seem to despise), which probably affects my judgment, but then again, her drawings really are amazing, even if they are just in a popular genre.

It's a really great site that a lot of my friends are on. I majorly envy those with artistic ability.
On another note...how does photography as an art form work? I know a good photo when I see it, but I have no idea how take an "artsy" picture without feeling cliched and dumb.

I have an account (I think), but I never use it. The idea of showing my metalwork on a place I can't sell it, for people to copy it off me just...I don't like it.

Good news everyone. Youthnoise gave DA a chance to take part in the design-a-phone-tag (which I can't remember the name of currently) competetion! A toast to the start of a partnership.

I love doing photography I took two shots on my backpacking trip up pikes peak that just look amazing, the first one is an early dawn shot below tree line where I caught a ridge just perfectly and then it got this grainy effect that looks like I planned it. The second shot was about 2 miles from the summit and way above tree line I took a photo of one of the best sunrises it's been my pleasure to see and I caught a shiloette of one of the folks in front of me who was also stopped to watch the sunrise and it's just perfect, it's so perfect it looks like I staged it

I love Deviant Art, but in terms of using it to get your artwork seen by the world, its not the great idea that it was meant to be. DA has its own 'celebrities', (mostly pretty girls and anime artists) and although a lot of the stuff you see is excellent, most people don't really put much effort into finding new talent.

I love Deviant Art, some of the stuff on there is incredible. I have no artistic ability to speak of but I like to look through it all... I got a few pictures on my wall that I printed out from there.

Nice photography, Brehon. I love those sorts of natural shots. I agree with the anime hate for this site. I like anime just fine, but dislike when people are uterrly obsessed with it. And, unfortunately, the majority of good artists on this site prefer to draw anime.

I agree with EG. But I just don't like anime. Other than that the site is great. Especially when I need a picture to paint for art. It's really nice to be able to search their photography stuff because something cool normally comes up. Oh and I got my avator thing from there. I have an account too. In the past I have actually had multipule acounts but for some reason or another(technical things) i had to close them. My current one is http://derogation.deviantart.com/

DA is great and all, but it kinda pisses me off that all those terrible little "chibi" anime drawings get the most attention. Lame.

Got it, there's a comma at the end of the hyperlink. Try this one here: http://aegithalos.deviantart.com/

Hey Brehon, the link doesn't work. At least not on my computer.
