Hey, Lab Rat Liberation is a whole new kind of animal rights group. Sure, we still protest KFC, gather signatures at malls and get together to celebrate our victories at the movies but heres the deal. We accept you whether or not youre a vegetarian. Although converting to vegetarianism is a great first step to stopping animal cruelty.

We are in need of members who will be willing to help us build a great, fantastic website, who are creative, who are willing to stand up and stand out for the cause and willing to help create fliers. It doesnt matter if youre in our area (though local members that are willing to meet would be so helpful!) or if youre halfway around the planet.

Help us stand up for animals stuck in factory farms, in slaughter houses and most of all in labs. Its unfair that these magnificent creatures are cooped up in small cages tortured everyday with needles in their eyes and drugs in their veins.

So come on over and join today, please!

I have four dogs two cats and will eventually have more. My mom and I are a big payer for the animal shelter. We got 3 out of 4 dogs from a rescue or shelter. Both cats were retrieved from the shelter. Hearing that animal testing has become a serious problem boils my blood and it needs to stop

Animals don't consent to testing - don't test them.

I think the best solution is to consenting patients and.. well, murderers.

Its ok, I was a little disturbed but then I read your follow up. I dont support needless cosmetic testing and I wish that because Scientists dont believe that animals are different from human in their body structure just in the way they should be treated. I will always be for the anti animal testing movement but my main concern is to first get rats and mice included in the animal welfare act and to make sure that ALL animals are taken care of.

I want fair treatment for animals in labs, I believe that they should be cared for as though they were humans being tested on.

Edited for offensive content.

Let's not go into the uproar and the ethics involved with that.

I'm not saying I support or don't support animal testing. The above is just a bad idea.

There is a quote somewhere off the peta website from all different scientists and doctors stating that a product in a rabbits eyes is no more helpful than a free slap in the face because a rabbits eye will ALWAYS be different from a humans, of which the product is for. YOU WANT THESE PRODUCTS YOU TEST ON HUMANS. Gosh.

It makes sense if you sit down and really think about it. Everything would eventually make sense if we took the time to think.

I have a question, why are you worked up over a bunch of freakin rats? seriously magnificent creatures? They are freakin pests, at least in a lab at CDC, Shriner's Burn Insitute, USAMRIID, or one of a billion other research labs they're doing something besides spread disease and eating crops/garbage.

Now I agree cosmetics testing is mindlessly stupid and utterly pointless but stopping animal testing for medical reasons is just foolish.

Cure for Cancer/AIDS/Etc > a few rats

I agree, testing cosmetics on animals is unnecessary, especially considering the ways the testing is often done. Who on earth is going to put blush in their eyes or lipstick in cuts? Okay, I don't know if they really do that, but I've seen some rather graphic pictures of cosmetic testing. Cutting open animals simply to test makeup doesn't make much sense to me.

As for medical testing, I'm with Meagan. Animal testing has saved uncountable lives. The only alternatives are computer simulations (which show more error than animal testing) or human testing, which, I think we can all agree, is pretty unethical unless there is consent from test subjects. I'm not normally one to say the end justify the means, but I think this is an instance that fits that perfectly. Without animal testing, we'd probably still be wondering if outer space is radioactive (since dogs and chimps were the first living things sent into space) and dying from common illnesses because we're not sure if penicillin is safe to use.

I am and always will be against unnecessary cruelty to animals, but I've never been a big supporter of animal rights. If they want rights, they can stand up for them. I'll keep people from kicking dogs and burning kittens, but that's about the limit of my actions. Sorry.

The more you know, the less you don't know.
