It has nothing to do with the topic, but the same thing is happening with you that happens with Bogey, I see you as your avatar. Anyways, in my ex-school here we did a reenactment (sp?) of current life in Puerto Rico. I was one of the illegal Dominicans. And I had to say "kashoo" instead of "ketchup" and stuff like that. It was fun, but no one here is very fond of Dominicans so we were booed by the crowd when "the Dominicans" appeared. A few senior students also threw eggs at us. I will never play a Dominican again. In fact, I won't even be in a play, I'll direct it, perhaps.

Yeah, I'm a drunk inbred. That's what I get for living in the South.

I think we should take the realness level up a notch. For instance if I play a confederate soldier I should get to drink moonshine and sleep with my sister. If I am a northern soldier I get to smoke cigars and drink brandy while arguing political idealogy.

Well, I lean toward Jefferson over Hamiliton. And the South wasn't trying to destroy America in my opinion. I have a confederate falg hanging up in my room, but I don't show it off or use racist words to other people. The U.S. was still there. The groups in the South supported revolution, and it was when the American Revolution went to battle in the South that America won. I've never heard of the Sons of the American Revolution. I'd have to check it out. And wrong side? Come on. I love being south of the Mason-Dixon. In fact, ya'll love us so much, Dixie was the battle tune of the north in the early years of the civil war. Ain't that sweet.

Paint, I am in the Sons of Union Veterans as well as The National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. I agree with both you and FML regarding the CSA. I am with you on states rights, I am a Jeffersonian when it comes to states issues. I am also against standing up against the Union for the reasons of the CSA. We have a right to stand up against them in certain situations, but the CSA was wrong in their reasoning. It is goot to see another fellow Son - even if you are on the wrong side, lol.

I don't think you are wrong for liking the C.S.A. I just happen to dislike them. The C.S.A. was not another part of The United States of America. They took up arms against The United States of America. I know that you feel they were fighting for an American idea of states rights. As a staunch Federalist I don't beleive states rights are an American ideal. I don't want to get into an argument about states rights. I only want to say that my dislike of the C.S.A doesn't carry over to people who do. I do however take exception to the confederate flag being flown and displayed. It is the symbol of a group that tryed to destroy the United States(by making them not united antmore). The C.S.A. was just another part of America. We still loved our country. I ain't racist either. Damn. If it makes ya'll happy, I had ancestors that worked in the underground railroad, I could also join the Sons of Union Vetrans (I wouldn't), and only one of my ancestors at the time owned slaves. And that was only because she married into a wealthy plantation family. So put that in yo' pipe and smoke it.

I know. I think reenactment (though nerdy) is neat. I don't think the people who dress up like confederates are racist or anything. But dressing up like a confederate and understanding that they weren't all bad is different than supporting the CSA's social policies. I still think of the CSA as a group that took up arms against my blessed U.S.A. I am black, northern and federalist. I am opposed to any group who declares war on the federal government(confederacy). I generally like ya Bluey, why the coalition smear? quote: So are you saying you support the confederacy and what it stood for? The Confederacy was not just a bunch of racist rednecks. A lot of people who fought didn't even own slaves. Most just didn't want the North running the country totally in their own interest completely disreguarding the South. And, heck yeah, I respect states' rights and my heritage.
