SADD -A studen lead orginizeation that tries to get student to make wise decisions. Recenlty the changed from Students Aganist Dunk Drivers to now Students Aganist Destructive Decisions. So my Questions: Have you ever heard of SADD before now?Does SADD work?/Encourge students to make wise decisions?

I'm the one that doesn't acknowledge the validity of overly simplistic dichotomies espoused by motivational speakers.
Those who profess to favor freedom and yet depreciate agitation are men who want crops without plowing up the ground, they want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the roar of its many waters. Frederick Douglass

Most recently my school SADD program brought Calvin Terrell to our school. He is one of the most contreversal person I have met. He divids the world into 5 types of people. Worrier- fight for their believes Soldier- takes orders Cowrd- hides behinda false front Thug-doesn't care for anything Reble- fights every one how trys to tell them what to do Which one are you?

I would have joined SADD in high school if it was still Students Against Drunk Driving. When they changed it to destructive decisions, I think it just lost it's focus. When all of the officers are the school party animals, the organization kind of loses all of it's credibility.

In Delaware we have YELL, which is basically SADD, but with most of the emphasis on drunk driving.

I liked SADD better when it was just about drunk driving. With it being "Destructive Decisions," the door is wide open for a whole range of potentially destructive decisions. Who knows, you may find yourself fending off crazy people who insist premarital sex is a "destructive decision."
The more you know, the less you don't know.

Here we have SADD, MADD, DADD,and so on but my favorite one I heard about from a friend from cali is SDADD, Surfer Dudes Against Drunk Driving

I used to be in a school org called TADD, teens instead of students. it really is a great program. I would go to all over the state presenting programs made for elementary and middle school students about "destructive decisions". the programs were age appropiate and just showed a bunch of choices that you can make of the consequences of them. Now we were showing these programs to doctors, school boards, state reps and anyone you could imagine simply to get these programs out and in the open. And it actually worked! Schools all around TX now have these programs running in their school and my school created it. if you have any q's please ask....

quote: So what are these destructive decisions?
I would classify it as anything that harms yourself or others. Ex. Suciced, Bulling, driving drunk. quote: What state school system was SADD set up in?...and no I never heard of it
I don't know you have to ask SADD directly quote: Is it branching out?

In order to teach, one must first learn to listen
